Surgery and post op done!

I had my surgery on Feb 11th and just had my post op on today’s very snowy day! No regrets!
I was honestly shocked at how little pain I was in, I took two painkillers all week! The worst of the initial recovery was the immediate after surgery/evening nausea (im very sensitive to nausea but the anesthesiologist was aware and kind and made me quite comfortable) and the dried blood and mucus clogging my nostrils off and on during the week. Congestion made sleeping a little uncomfortable for a couple days because it dried my throat out breathing through my mouth all night, but I bought “Act Drymouth” mouthwash that another review suggested and it helped. I started feeling pretty normal the day after surgery but I highly suggest having a friend or family member help you out for the first two/three days to make life a little easier, I was able to relax, not leave the hotel at all and focus on healing.
I received texts from Dr. Reish several days in a row checking up on me and he answered any questions I had. I also even got a call the day after my surgery from both his nurse and the anesthesiologist checking up which was very sweet, of the several other surgeries I’ve had, I have not gotten this much personal follow up from so many people and it really does help put you at ease.
Every day was a little better and I only bruised under one of my eyes but not badly and I can tell it’s just a few more days away from being completely faded.
I came in a little early on my seven day postop to avoid the snowstorm getting too bad and had my nasal passage ways cleaned out by the fabulous Rachel (who is very sweet and funny) and Dr. Reish came in with her to check out my new nose! I had a little bit of mild irritation from the surgical tape on my nose (my body is sensitive all around LOL) and they even gave me a medical grade cream to soothe it and make it go away faster.
I honestly expected a lot more swelling and wideness from the front but I don’t think it’s too bad! Just like with a little pain I had I was surprised that I wasn’t too scared of the initial swelling, if this is as bad as it gets I am so, so excited to see what it will eventually look like! I can already tell that my nose doesn’t “hook dip” when I smile anymore nor does it look crooked from the front or tip! Because I’m an out of towner and can’t come back too soon, Dr. Reish gave me a little steroid shot to help with the swelling, just a little pinch. When I was holding a little bit of gauze on it right after I started to cry a little bit with happiness, it was an insecurity I’ve been dealing with for 15 years now since my first surgery and I feel like it was done so right this time! Also I can tell my left septum is not nearly as deviated as it was before and I can already breathe more air then I could pre-opp. I didn’t like my nose too much cosmetically before, but not being able to breathe properly was truly detrimental to the quality of my life especially when I came to being able to exercise so I couldn’t be more excited to be more active again!!
Out of honest insecurity and nerves I didn’t take photos during the recovery process but I will absolutely be posting some proper before and after updates in the next couple weeks after I get back home and settled. I told Dr. Reish I will try to come back in a few months for really good professional postop photos! I also picked up biocorneum (a good scar cream) right from their office before I left!
My surgery in total was about 19 K, but keep in mind I had a revision and needed my septum fixed, spreader graphs, the works! So worth it, again no regrets and I am truly excited to watch myself fully heal and take photos along the way!
I’m very happy with my decision to go with Dr. Reish, his work is fabulous and his courteous bedside manner is one of the best I’ve ever encountered. I’ve never traveled out of state for anything cosmetic before, but I would do this again in a heartbeat if I had to and would recommend the same to anybody else.
I’ll update with photos soon!

Surgery had to be postponed, new date next week!

It’s been a crazy few months, how about that 2020? My new surgery date is this upcoming week, there’s been a lot of snow storms so hopefully it doesn’t affect my journey too much, i’ve been getting concerned messages asking for updates so I promise I’ll be updating here more!

My Revision Septo/Rhinoplasty is with Dr Reish Next Week!

Hello!
I did a long review for my BBL journey which I found cathartic and I love RealSelf and pour through it for reviews and photos when thinking about cosmetic work so I knew I had to do one for my Rhino revisioned with the renowned Dr Reish!
First, I had a nose job at 17 that my mom signed off on and she picked the doctor...probably not the best choice but I was young and really wanted a better profile. Honestly it wasn't too bad at least to me until later in life. That surgery was 15 years ago (omg I'm growing up!) and in MA. In my 20's I started to realized that it was a bit cooked in the front, mainly my columella and especially when smiling. I have two different sized nostrils, or it appears so because one side of my tip has more cartilage than the other side. I also realized I have two different profiles. Oh and did I mention one of my nostrils gets clogged a lot and often "whistles" at night? Oh boy.
I don't hate my face, mainly because I've learned of the power of makeup and photo editing...but that's a lot of work and frankly just as "unnatural" as getting a surgery. So for years I've contemplated fixing all the small problems that added up but was always too scared to go through with it. It's amazing the blind bravery we have as teenagers! I've been researching like crazy especially this past year as we've all be confined to our homes and finally think I've found a surgeon who does consistently amazing work, but also wants the final result to "fit your face" and not necessarily change your whole face. Just as much as I was nervous about a botch, I was concerned about looking too "different".
I finally found Dr Reish, who's work is so constantly great but is also incredibly communicative and is very active on social media. I've watched several of his recent patients document their entire experiences on Instagram and Youtube and there are few things that could put me at east more than seeing the actual person start to finished on their journey.
I booked my virtual consultation and appreciated his feedback and liked how confident and knowledgable he came off (and actually is of course). Then a few weeks later after chatting about paperwork and surgical clearance with my surgery coordinator Melissa, I booked my appointment officially and had yet another FaceTime consult/pre-op with Dr Reish himself, who like many others have mentioned gives you his cellphone number, which I've also never had a Dr do before in my previous adult surgeries (BA and BBL, both great Dr's but not this personable.).
I even called the office today with a basic question about Covid Testing because I'm traveling from California to New York for this surgery and expected a call/text/email back from Melissa the surgery coordinator but actually ended up getting a text from Dr Reish less than 10 minutes later asking about what questions I had--on a Sunday (when he wasn't working) for a patient who hasn't even had surgery yet, wow that's a first too and another thing that puts me at ease. Definitely doesn't seem like he wants unhappy or concerned patients in any way which is awesome.
I'm flying out to NY tomorrow for 10 days with a friend for this as we have to get Covid tested 3 days before my surgery and stay until my post op/cast removal.
I'm nervous but excited, I think Dr Reish is one of the best Rhino Dr's I could have picked and I'm praying I turn out as good as his other patients. I want to look like "me but a liiiittle better" and obviously be able to breath properly. ;)
I'll keep you all updated!!
Added a couple before pictures for reference (no makeup, eek). I'm smiling in the side pic and would love a little less top drooping and very much want a bit straighter from the front with less of a left-hanging columella cartilage. Fingers crossed!
