Secondary Rhinoplasty
Secondary Rhinoplasty
Dr. Robotti performed a secondary rhinoplasty in April 2021. After a "deconstrucive" rhinoplasty in 2016 I suffered from breathing problems and terrible aesthetic results- the surgeon conducting the first rhinoseptoplasty chose a quite aggressive approach and removed lots of my cartilaginous tissue- as a consequence, my nose collapsed and with every inspirium I could literally feel the nasal walls blocking the airway- more and more I got a "saddle nose" with an overprojected tip and a pronounced convcave shape of the dorsum. The side view of my nose was so disastrous that I just wanted to hide my face and actually I was more than happy to use face masks during the pandemic so people could not see my sausage shaped unnatural nose.
After lots of visits and medical consultations, I decided to undergo a secondary rhinoplasty-
I was very aware that my case was challenging and choosing wisely the right surgeon crucial. I am more than thankful that some doctors would refuse operating me and gave me addresses of the leading institutions for reconstructive rhinoplasty..
I waited more than six months for an appointment at a very renowned clinic in Germany. The consultation was very professional and honest (for me, that features have a top priority) but I was not totally convinced and wanted to see another leading expert. During my research one name popped up in almost every report of important conferences and in lots of papers regarding teqniques of raising the dorsum (SPLF grafts): Enrico Robotti. So I made an appointment for a visit in Bergamo. That was one one of the best decisions I ever made.
From the first conversation with Dr. Robottis´ assistant, I was treated with so much empathy, professionalism and dedication- everyone in his team is aware of the effort people are willing to take to be treated from one of the best surgeons in the world. Within the first visit, I realized quickly what made Dr. Robottis approach so special: he combines absolute honesty regarding "medical hard facts" and professionalism with empathy, dedication and optimism. After he documented my medical case and explained the status quo, he promised to give his best to fix my problems and improve my situation. Even tough I realized I may not get "the perfect nose", I was so optimistic because I knew that Dr. Robotti would apply the most modern teqniques in a super professional setting and care about me as a person.
The surgery took more than six hours and consisted of deprojecting my tip, raising the dorsum, triangulating the tip and improving my dorsal aesthetic lines as well as stabilizing my "collapsed" nasal valves using rip cartilage.
Right after the surgery, neither the nose nor the rip area hurt. My breathing situation and my profile improved significantly and the nose gets more defined with every month.
I want to emphasize that Dr. Robotti made the best out of a terrible starting point- correcting errors of others and that is what makes him a true "medical hero".
