So, here we go!
I have been looking for a revision surgeon ever since I ended up with the typical skinny pinched 90s nose job that I expressly said I did not want but ultimately realized was all that surgeon knew how to do. Over the years, it got skinnier and pinched in more at the tip, leaving me with a serious dent on my right side.
I had a revision with Dr. Richard Davis in 2005 that left me with absolutely no difference in ability to breathe or aesthetic appeal. Within two months of my surgery, my nose had shrunk right back to where it was before the revision. Dr. Davis kept telling me to wait, but I kept saying that I'm not Pinocchio and after being ignored for a few months, I just never went back. I gave up for awhile.
When I moved to Massachusetts, I began a search for another rhinoplasty revisionist. I consulted with Le in Ellicott City but put it off as I needed ten thousand for my share of the surgery. Life got in the way.
I finally scheduled surgery with Le for March 2020. but we all know what happened. I honestly consider it a good thing as over the next few months I decided that this was not the way to go and decided to keep looking. I tried to schedule a consultation with Dr. Reich but could never get a call back. When I looked into the practice, it appears to have a lot of surgeons so felt like a black hole to me. After talking to a couple of people who consulted with him, I decided it was a sign and gave up. I had a consult for a facelift with a well respected surgeon in Boston and asked him if he knew a good rhinoplasty revisionist in Boston and got a firm "no" headshake. He advised me to just live with what I had rather than risk a revision. Kept looking.
I found Dr. Wayne on realself and took advantage of the site's offer to pay for consults after reading reviews and communicating with other patients. We initially did a Zoom consult, which went well in terms of getting an idea of how he works. He made it very clear that he did not have 100% satisfied patients, I could tell by his tone and demeanor that it upset him, that everyone isn't totally happy, and that he could only control what happened on the table; how I heal would have a great deal to do with the outcome. I am also sixty-years-old, so that makes a major difference in the result. He also made it clear he wouldn't agree to do the revision without a physical consultation. I totally get that so scheduled for May.
I don't think he or his staff ever expected to see my OKC, much less have me go through with two surgeries in a week.
It was a pleasure working with Corinne and the other staff in the office. They are very accommodating. I flew in for my consult, which isn't an easy trip from Mass. but all went well. The first thing I said to him was, "I'm not dying with this nose." He told me what he thought he could achieve and made me very happy when he said he could give me my bridge back. I also decided to consult for a facelift as I would have to stay in Oklahoma for around three weeks. It didn't make sense to do the nose and then get the facelift in Boston. Dr. Wayne also offered more for the basic fee, including fat grafting and Co2 laser, although with travel, car rental, and hotel it all washed out in the end. At the end of the consult, Dr. Wayne agreed to do the revision, which kind of shocked me as I never thought about being turned down by the doctor. I actually think it's a good thing that he doesn't take all cases. I've since been in touch with a couple of patients who were turned down by him because he didn't think he could achieve the results they are looking for.
I ended up scheduling the nose for July 9 and the face for July 15. I honestly thought long and hard about using a surgeon so far away from home, as it took A LOT for me to make eighteen days in OKC work. I am a foster mother with toddler siblings, so I had to find someone authorized by social services who could stay with them for that length of time. I seriously vacillated between getting it all done in OKC or continuing the search for a surgeon closer. I had no problem finding someone who does amazing facelifts, but the rhinoplasty revision was a whole other complication. The other issue was that Dr. Wayne is out of my network so no insurance could be applied. I just honestly felt that even if I could save a few thousand dollars, I could also very well end up having to do ANOTHER revision and end up paying full price the next time around for MORE money overall. I really felt Dr. Wayne could do the nose and the facelift and leave me with an excellent result. I am also 100% confident that should something now work on well, he will be on my team and address the issue rather than gaslight or ignore me. As he said when I got my facelift stiches removed, "I have plan in my head should x y or z happen."
NONE of it was painful at all, he took my rib from my breast augmentation scar, so no new incisions on my chest. That is HUGE given what I've seen in cases with other surgeons. The surgery center right next to his office is excellent and very convenient. I stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn Quail Ridge, which is also within walking distance. Apparently Dr. Wayne is building a new facility so won't be there sometime in the future, but if he still does surgery at the facility it still makes it convenient. The hotel has a kitchen, laundry facility, exercise room, breakfast bar, and great television selections. I was healing and working online so spent a lot of time in bed binge watching Netflix shows.
I didn't do well with the anesthesia the first time and find that is always the worst part of any procedure for me. For the facelift, Dr. Sean Kelley was my anesthesiologist and he is the BOMB. He made sure I didn't wake up feeling sick, and it was MUCH smoother the second time around. Not sure if you can request but highly recommend him.
I also didn't have anyone who wanted to come hang with me in OKC so had to find a service to take me out the surgery center and babysit me until I could function on my own. Corinne recommended Visiting Angels of OKC, which is run by Tracy Slopey, and that worked out really well. I had the same person, Nadine, for both surgeries. She picked me up from the surgery center and stayed with me several hours in to the next morning. I highly recommend that service. I would not have been able to do it if this type of service didn't exist.
I am finally home in Mass, trying not to get kicked in the face by toddlers! I'm healing well. The major issue is the numbness in the ears and neck. It feels like I'm wearing a mask and is very strange to the touch. I don't want to be too quick on my jubilation, but everyone is amazed at the nose. I so hope it stays about like this. Everything is healing well, including my newly-fat-grafted lips that look AMAZING. I was planning a lip lift with Dr. Wayne a few months down the line, but even he said I may not need it if I don't lose too much of the fat.
I am posting after pictures here. That is HUGE for me. I don't like having my face on the internet but want to help other figure it all out. I don't have before pictures as was not a fan of seeing my face on film in the last decade or so. Dr. Wayne's office has my permission to use my photos and they can be seen in his office. I'm happy to answer any questions and keep people updated. I can't wait to just move on with my life and stop with the boards. Glad this site exists to assist us with our searches.

Hi thank you for your review! About how much was it? And how did your nose look before? I might need a 3rd nose job because I can't breathe but I'm really scared
July 27, 2021
Hi, I totally get the fear thing. I actually had a nightmare a couple nights after my revision that my nose was exactly the same as before surgery. It is very difficult to try again after plastic surgery failures. My nose was skinny, a little slopey, and had a majorly pinched tip with a huge dent in the right side. I really wanted a normal looking nose and Dr. Wayne said he would over-build by about 20% to account for reabsorption. I am more than happy to end up with a bigger nose than a smaller one. Dr. Wayne's fee for the surgery was $17,000 plus surgery center and anesthesiology, so in the $20,000 range. Honestly, if it stays just like this I will be very happy. I do NOT want a nose job nose. Mine now looks like it was always on my face and no one would look at me and say I had a nose job. If you consult with Dr. Wayne, ask him to see PJ's before pictures as a comparison as I don't have any to post here. I really don't think there is any one GREAT surgeon, and I skip the posts where people call their surgeon "the best" or a mistake if someone doesn't choose him or her. We all have to figure out who is going to work best for our needs, and I am happy I went with Dr. Wayne for the nose and the facelift.

So the $17k didn't include the face lift or lip fat transfer?
July 28, 2021
Oh, no. That was totally separate as was the surgery center and anesthesia. The lowest quote I got from any surgeon I was for a rhino revision was the same and $25,000 for a facelift all in with no fat grafting or Co2. It's for sure an expensive endeavor. The good news is that my insurance paid for my first two failures. Davis billed my insurance $25,000 for the revision that did NOTHING. This is the first time I had to pay out of pocket at all. I'm for sure done economically, LOL.

I'm sorry to ask again, but what was the facelift cost minus the surgery center fees. :-). Was it a full deep plane facelift or na different type? Thank you!

Not a problem . I had a SMAS facelift, upper and lower eyes Co2 laser full face, and fat grafting to face and lips. Dr. Wayne's fee for that was $18,500. For a basic SMAS in Boston, the surgeon's fee was almost $25,000.

Hello! Are you still happy with your nose? I’m looking at dr Wayne for a complex revision but don’t love the $500 consultation fee and he seems to have some bad reviews but then some great ones too!

I am still happy, although only three months out. Every revision surgeon has his and her successes and failures. Dr. Wayne will be the first to say he has unhappy patients. I could tell when we spoke during the consultation that that really bothers him. He charges $500 now? I paid $150, which ended up being covered by Real Self as they were offering a visa card covering the consultation fee awhile back. I did do a Zoom AND an in-person consultation for that fee, and he took his time with me both times. Honestly, we take our chances with revision rhinoplasty and hope we end up being one of the good results. I was willing to take the risk as I HATED my nose. Now it looks like a nose I could have been born with. Hope this helps.

$500?? Are you sure of that amount? I paid $150, as well and it covered my zoom and in person consultation with him! That was around October/November 2020.
October 21, 2021
Thankyou for replying. I guess his fees went up! I got an email from his patient coordinator about a week ago and she said the fee is 500 and it does not go towards surgery if you
Choose to do it. She didn’t give the option of virtual appointment either!

Wow! Business for sure must be good! Please keep us posted on what you end up doing.

That's super sad that the price changed so Drastically. Yes, drastically. That price would have sent me looking in a different direction ESPECIALLY since not even a Portion of it is deducted from surgery costs if you choose Dr Wayne. I know he's busy, I know he's skilled, and we know there's only so much time in a day. Thinking as to reason why, looking from all sides - well I'm sorry Dr Wayne but I feel that was a bad move. Perhaps he is overwhelmed and this is his way of getting time back into his schedule. If you're constantly consulting you have less time for Your Work. Most consults don't even take an hour. Most are around 30 minutes or less from when the doc walks in the room, add another 5 for the pictures they take before. Maybe he wishes to spend more time on the consult. However, a lot of desperate patient's who are willing to wait 4-6+ months for a consult are going to miss out on the opportunity to have a quality qualified revision surgeon help them due to their own budget constraints - we all don't have $500 to toss around. This makes me very sad.

Yeah, I don't know what to say. I guess that works for him and his practice. Did you end up having surgery with Dr. Wayne?
October 22, 2021
I did. I brought him a total mess and he has helped me significantly. He didn't promise me perfection and it's not. But he had total shut to work with. There's more to be done when the time comes which we've discussed. I'm very grateful to not be totally embarrassed when out and about. I'm not ready to sit down and do a whole story either. LoL very time consuming! Perhaps when it's all final final.
But I get that he's probably really overwhelmed with consults to the point that in office procedures may have been suffering, so you up the consult price point to get office time back. I do feel bad for those of us who are on a budget however.

I get it. It does weed out those who are not serious, however. I remember when plastic surgery consults were free. People would go on dozens of them and waste a lot of surgeons' time. I'm glad I went with Wayne but am also glad I got the previous consult fee. I did pay $400 to consult with Le in Maryland TWICE. He did spend a couple of hours with me for that price. It would be interesting to know what the range is among revision experts these days.
October 23, 2021
I'm really glad your surgery is working out well. So far I'm happy with the results. I, too, don't feel like my fake nose stands out any longer.
October 24, 2021
Zazu22, anewlook53, So do you both feel he is worth visiting with? It’s hard to pay 500 to just see if he’s willing to help me. I’ve been told it’s a complex case- I’m finally to the year mark so can actually be worked on but now I’m scared to jump in- only get one shot at it! I’m about 4.5hrs away from
Him so not horrible.
October 24, 2021
I honestly can't answer that for you. I totally agree that that is a lot of money to spend with the possibility that he can say that he cannot help you. Who else have you consulted with so far?
October 25, 2021
I understand the $$ issue - I truly do and I'm grateful I don't have to make that choice. All I can say is if he took me - which he almost didn't (he told me that at 6 months check up) but I KNOW he was upset at my primary results and felt he could help me somewhat & I flat out told him he couldn't make it any worse than what he was looking at, anything he could do would be an improvement for me and I truly meant that - well, that being said I believe he can probably help anyone with realistic expectations.
October 25, 2021
I agree. My nose is NOT perfect, but it looks so natural. I'm thrilled to no longer look like I have a bad tiny nose job. I am seriously considering a lip lift and for sure need more fat in my lips. I'm happy I chose Wayne.
October 27, 2021
Thankyou both of you!
I’ve seen dr kriet, McClung, and a few others in Kansas. I’ve done a virtual with dr henstrom in Utah. Have a appointment set with dr griffin(mn)and dr gale(Utah) . 2 in ks and 1 in tx that said no.
Dr Levi young in Kansas ruined my face so never go to him for anything!
October 27, 2021
I hope someone can help you. I have found I was super confused when I started going to see revision surgeons. I hope you can weed through them and find the surgeon that works for you. Please keep us posted.
