One of a Kind Rhinoplasty Surgeon - Worth the Wait

Dr Davis is one of a kind when it comes to rhinoplasty.
I had my primary rhinoplasty by a well known British surgeon in the late 1990s. Instead of trimming or re-shaping the cartilage at the tip of my nose, my primary surgeon removed the whole lot - the entire lateral crura. My nose was way too pinched, short and upturned. It looks exceptionally unnatural and I was embarrassed by how obvious it was that I had a nose job. It was literally like Michael Jackson level. At the time I couldn’t afford to get it revised properly, so lived with it for a long time.
When I finally was in a position to get my nose fixed, I spent years seeing every notable rhinoplasty surgeon in the world for consultation. By the end, I had consulted with so many surgeons it was difficult to chose between them because they were all saying similar things and I probably saw too many doctors but I was determined to get it right this time. In the end I chose Dr Davis based, a lot, on his before and after pictures. I noticed that the after pictures often had what I considered a rounder tip shape from the front which was one of the most important features for me. After living with a pinched nose for so long, I didnt want a ‘defined tip’. I want a normal looking tip. The other thing that attracted me to Dr Davis was that he was a nice person and I instinctively trusted him. I remember thinking that if something went wrong, I would trust him to look after me.
I had my first revision surgery with Dr Davis two years ago. It was a long, complicated revision and unfortunately I developed a number of complications following surgery. The outcome, when everything eventually healed, was better than I had started with but still not what we were hoping to get to. My nose still had some features which looked surgical and although it was better than where I had started, I still wasn’t satisfied by the improvement and neither was Dr Davis. However, because of the healing issues I had, he was reluctant to operate again too soon and we agreed I should wait until over 2 years before we had another revision.
I have now undergone my second revision with Dr Davis and I could not be happier. I had a very difficult case, caused by an overly aggressive primary rhinoplasty and then was unfortunate enough to develop complications after my first revision with Dr Davis. However, Dr Davis absolutely stuck by me in the face of adversity and I am confident that at every step of the way the advice he gave me was based on my best interests at that moment in time. I was a difficult patient - both in terms of what my nose needed and my anxiety levels. There were times when i was having complications that I was going out of my mind with anxiety and I am sure he thought I was crazy at times and most other doctors would have lost patience with me. However, he was very reassuring and in the end I am so glad that I stuck with him and went back for the second revision with him.
There are still some things about my nose that are not perfect. If I was to get overly critical, I would point out areas for improvement. If I got creative with a camera, I could even take some funny angles to highlight imperfections. However, the pictures I have attached I think are a good comparison between before and after and when you look at them side by side, the difference he has achieved for me is incredible. I wanted to get rid of the obvious surgical look, and he has knocked the ball out of the park as far as that goes. I now have a normal looking nose and I can breath better than ever. Having met pretty much every ‘big name’ rhinoplasty surgeon in the US and Europe, I genuinely do not think anyone of them could have done as good a job as Davis.
Dr Davis is a nose specialist. He only does one nose per day. That’s all he does. He takes on some of the most difficult noses in the world and when you see the before and after pictures he shows you at consultation, it is clear he is in a league of his own. I have read reviews both here and elsewhere where people talk about him abandoning them after surgery - I could not imagine him actually doing that. If he was going to abandon anyone, I am sure he would have abandoned me when I was at my most anxious but he didn’t. He is a brilliant surgeon and if you need a complex revision, or if you just want to be sure that you get it right first time so you don’t need a complex revision later, do yourself a favour and go see him. He is absolutely worth the wait!

Thank you so much for posting pictures it really helps! I’m so happy for you! Your new nose looks great!
Did he use rib or ear grafts? Also would you be willing to post profile pics as well please it would be really helpful
The profile didn't really change with my rhinoplasty - the main issue for me was the front view. He did it all using septum and ear cartilage. He talked about possibly having to use rib before the first surgery, but then managed to use only septum. In the second surgery, he used some ear.
I wish this were my story. I had a revision with him in 2005 to no avail. It is EXACTLY the same as it was before.
Zazuu22 would you be willing to send me your before and after pics
I don't have any at the moment, but am seeing Dr. Le on Monday as I've pretty much decided to go with him. I'll see if he can just capture the nose. It is exactly the same as after my primary, dent in tip and all. It was a total waste of time, but at least he didn't make it worse.
He rebuilt your nasal pyramid beautifully. I am at the final leg of my research and think I will choose between Davis and Dr. Ion of London. Did you see Ion along your journey?
PS. Are you willing to share what your complications were so that we can all better understand and prepare?
I saw Ion a few times and I think he is an excellent surgeon. I think if my main concern was my profile, I would have possibly chosen Ion (it would have been much easier to have surgery at home than travelling to the US). However, when I looked at the front view, which was my main concern, I though Davis' work was more impressive. The complication was due to a lack of blood supply getting to my tip after the first operation.
Thank you so much.
I am looking forward to hearing how your consult goes.
Ion couldn’t rebuild my friend’s nasal pyramid or her infratip region and columella. He said he only tried it out once. She is hoping Davis can help.
