Revision rhinoplasty for crooked saddle nose

Horrible Revision Results

This review is my experience with Dr. Ezzat specifically for a revision rhinoplasty so I cannot speak to the quality of his primary rhinoplasties. I came to Dr. Ezzat because my primary rhinoplasty caused one side of my nose to collapse (saddle nose) and it was still visibly crooked. I mentioned that I really loved my nose profile but did want to fix the crooked nose and the saddling. Dr. Ezzat’s price was just about $8,000 which seemed reasonable and I paid fully out of pocket. My surgery with Dr. Ezzat was a horrible experience and my results are equally as bad. After waiting over the recommended 3 years to truly judge the results my nose is now larger, with a lump on my left side that was not there before, a pointed nose, and a hump that developed on the lower bridge of my nose. The saddle of the left size was better but the nose is still crooked. Dr. Ezzat’s work caused more problems than it solved and when I mentioned all of these visible issues he wanted to charge me another $8,000 for an additional surgery with him.

On the day of my surgery the surgical staff made errors such as not putting the IV into my vein which caused a huge lump of fluid to accumulate on my arm. After the surgery Dr. Ezzat did not come to visit me in recover but rather one of his residents came in. I had a very hard recovery which was extremely painful. I think my intubation was not done properly as my lungs hurt and I was coughing up blood. Dr. Ezzat did not seem concerned by either my extreme pain or the blood I was coughing up. My cast looked visibly crooked and once it was removed I commented that it looked crooked and a hump was now on my nose. Although I was very concerned Dr. Ezzat assured me it was all swelling and would correct itself. At two-three weeks a round fluid bump formed at the left side of my nose which was quite visible. Also at this time a sharp looking point developed at the tip of my nose. Dr. Ezzat was unsure of what the bump was and tried draining it if fluid which resulted in a hard lump. He later wanted to charge my insurance for the removal of this lump which would have cost me a sizable co-insurance.

For almost all of my follow-up appointments Dr.Ezzat was extremely late. He double books his appointment slots and one time I waited over 1 hour and 20 minutes after my appointment time. His wait times are extremely unprofessional and the follow-up appointments were mostly him dismissing my concerns about the results and telling me to wait for the swelling to go down. I felt that Dr. Ezzat lacked empathy for my pain from surgery and made excuses for the very obviously bad results. When I spoke with him about my experience and dissatisfaction at the results his response was “well you can’t please everybody.” Just remember you might be one of the "everybodys."

Oh dear! Thank you for sharing. That's why I'm afraid of revisions. 4 out of 5 revision "before and after" I see on surgeons' websites are not worth it. Either no changes, or objectively it looks worse than before. It's a gamble with extremely low chances to win.

I am thinking the same. I have breathing problems and I still can’t find a surgeon that does consistently good work.

Hi, thank you for posting your experience. I just had a primary rhinoplasty with him and recently got my cast off. I really did not like my nose when the cast came off even though I thought I would really like it. It did not fit my face and since the cast removal it looks deviated to one side. I'm not sure if this is swelling as it's still less than a month or if the nose was botched. He didn't seem concerned at the post op and always seems in a rush which I understand since he sees lots of patients. I'm kind of really worried about the end result of his work after seeing this post. He did not seem concerned and laughed when I brought up the problems I was seeing during the cast removal. I really hope it is just swelling.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I hope that it is swelling for you. I will say that he said the same thing to me when my cast came off. Even if it is swelling for you I wish he wouldn't have made you feel rushed or that he was dismissing your concerns.
