The shape of my nose is worse than before

ORIGINAL POST

Terrible Experience. 2 Years Later and Still Dealing with It

$18,000

Had a revision rhinoplasty with Dr.Cunningham. I have no comorbidities and had complications with recurrent postop infections. I had so many infections over and over again that the damage had already been done. She finally agreed to do a surgical washout 8 months later and didn’t suggest hyperbaric oxygen therapy (which is what ended all of this) until 10 months later. She had great bedside manner until I needed more follow ups and she seemed to rush them. The shape of my nose is worse than before AND I’m scarred AND I now have intermittent blood flow issues to my nose. She then up and quit without telling me and went to a surgeons office that apparently refuses to do revision rhinoplasty’s unless the original surgery was performed at that clinic. (she talked about the possibility of surgery to fix it before but I wasn’t mentally ready).

I think a good surgeon is obviously how well they perform the surgery…. But it’s also how well they handle complications to still have a good outcome. I received zero financial reimbursement or a simple “sorry”. I am now lucky enough to be offered free microneedling for the fat scar in the middle of the face as long as the aesthetician uses the same needle cartidge over and over and over.

Omg so sorry to hear! It’s crazy how many complications can come up after surgery. So scary. Are you still having infections now? is the microneedling helping the scar?
I am shocked that you didn’t receive any substantial care and empathy from your doctor. It’s such a shame!
To be fair, she was empathetic. She seems like a good person. She just didn’t handle the complications well. HBOT should have been much much sooner. Started HBOT about a year later (would have been 11 months but had to get insurance figured out). Haven’t had any infections since but definitely have polybeak and blood flow issues.
