WORTH IT
After 3 long years (Feb 2019 - Mar 2021) of physical, emotional and financial set backs, all consequences of enduring 4 failed rhinoplasty revision surgeries with another surgeon in Los Angeles, I was left with a badly deformed and non-functioning nose. The bridge of my nose had fully collapsed for the 4th time, my nasal passages were completely obstructed and I had lost most of my columella due to the removal of necrotized tissue from the area during an emergency procedure (surgery #3). At that time, as I was about to learn from other LA surgeons whom I sought for second opinions, my case had become very complicated and it now required a surgeon with vast knowledge in the field of revision rhinoplasty and who also specialized in facial reconstruction involving skin grafting. Dr. Toriumi was referred to me by one of these second opinion surgeons I saw in Los Angeles. I initially felt very nervous about seeing a doctor all the way in Chicago and potentially taking the next phase of surgeries and treatments to another city, half way across the country, away from my home and family. But, I can honestly say it now that it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Dr. Toriumi has done what seemed impossible. He has restored both, the functionality and the aesthetics of my nose in perfect harmony with my other facial features. From the making of a multi step treatment plan that best suited my needs to the timely and ongoing execution of it's every phase, I've felt heard, informed and very safe. I highly recommend Dr. Toriumi and his wonderful staff.

From the very beginning as he put together a multi-step treatment plan that best suited my needs to the timely execution of it's every phase, Dr. Toriumi has exceeded all of my expectations, while keeping me feeling heard, informed, and safe along the way. He is truly a remarkable surgeon. I highly recommend Dr. Toriumi and his wonderful staff.

Hi! You look great! I'm considering Dr. Toriumi for a complex second revision (third surgery overall). My first surgery left me with a large septal perforation, and my second surgery left me with an uneven nose that veers to the left. The second Dr. said it was too risky to fix the perforation, so I still have that as well. I'm very nervous to go through with another surgery as many doctors have said it's risky, but recommended I only see Toriumi if I decide to have it fixed. Did he use rib grafts for you? I've never had my own rib cartilage used (only cadaver) so that scares me. How has the rib scar healed? Is it noticeable, and was it painful?

Hi. Yes, he did. I might not be the best fit to answer your question as I had rib grafts harvested twice before Dr. Toriumi’s rib harvest. But, what I can say is… Dr. Toriumi used the same scar site I had under my left breast and took upon himself to improve the look of it by making it look tighter and overall cleaner than it was before his procedure. The scar healed well and fast. As far as pain goes, healing from rib harvesting is a bit painful and uncomfortable, specially when having to deal with the discomforts of a rhinoplasty procedure on top of that. But, the pain killers will do the trick the first few days. After that, if needed, Tylenol can help minimize the discomfort.

Thank you so much! Thats helpful to know! Is the scar large for the rib harvest?

Hi how is your healing ? Are you still happy. So I guess you had blood supply issues bc of the columella, did the doctor do anything about that? I am in that boat.
