I Am So Blessed to Have Found Dr Reish
WORTH IT
I am 10 days post op from my revision rhinoplasty with Dr. Reish and ironically sharing my story on Thanksgiving. I cannot begin to put into words how incredibly thankful and blessed I truly feel for finding Dr. Reish. I had a rhinoplasty on June 25, 2020 by none other than Dr Nassif in Beverly Hills. This was my second rhinoplasty. The first was in 2016 (in Boston) to give me a softer side profile and reduce my hanging columella from the side and front profile.I had wanted my nose to still look like my nose but over time the tip seemed to retract more leaving me with a sort of piggy nose for lack of a better descriptor. I booked a virtual consult with Dr Pang which was a shorter wait than meeting with Dr Nassif and felt comfortable from our discussion that my concerns could be addressed using rib cartilage to extend the tip. My post ops were all virtual considering the pandemic. I had noticed as I was approaching the year mark that the right side of the tip had ‘flattened’ and therefore when I looked to the right, I had a Polly beak.I requested to have an in person consult at the one-year mark so that Dr. Nassif could feel my actual nose. I went back to Beverly Hills for this appointment and was basically told that he did what I asked by extending the tip and that he did not touch the portion of my nose I was referring to that was flattened, that it was that way pre-surgery. I was shocked to think that I was basically told that something was not done because I didn’t specifically ask for it.I did not understand how I as the patient would know that by extending the tip and not touching that portion, I would be left with a Polly beak. I paid for a revision rhinoplasty and had an expectation that this meant optimizing the functionality and aesthetic of my nose my nose.
I returned home to Boston and found myself every single day being bothered by my nose and wishing I had not had the surgery with Dr. Nassif. I started doing research and found a review for Dr. Nassif in which someone indicated that she had the same experience with Dr. Nassif, and she found an incredible surgeon in NYC and he fixed it.I focused my search on NYC while grappling with the horror of having to pay for a complex revision and found Dr. Reish. I booked a virtual consult with him two days later. We Face Timed and just from Face Time before I said anything about what bothered me, he communicated his observation to me from viewing my nose on Face Time and having me rotate from side to side.He essentially listed off all of the things that bothered me and this was the moment I just knew I was in the right hands: the tip was over projected and very “harsh” (i.e., not a soft feminine side profile as it was literally 90 degrees the tip had been projected so much), the over projection gave the appearance of a drooping or beak from the front view in addition to the right side being flattened which created the Polly beak. In addition, from the front the transition from the nose bridge to cheek was not gradual. Likely because the bridge had been widened and made higher to transition to the extended tip.On Monday morning by 8am I had the quote from the surgical coordinator. She provided all the details about the requirements based on my location and for Covid-19 and scheduling surgery (Melissa). She was phenomenal and every time I emailed her; she would immediately respond. (this was in stark contrast to my experience at Dr Nassif’s office which was incredibly disorganized. I literally had to hound the surgical coordinator to get the information I needed and get my surgery scheduled. It was as if once you paid for the surgery you could not get any coordination support).
I paid the deposit and booked my surgery date with Dr Reish and then unfortunately when I was 4 weeks out, I had to deal with a family emergency and had to cancel my original date. Melissa was incredibly understanding and said just call me when you are ready to schedule that way, we don’t have to worry about changing it multiple times. When I finally knew I had the family situation under control I contacted her and took a date that was just 2 weeks away as I wanted to do it as soon as possible as I am returning to working in my office full time in December.Even with the limited time between confirming my surgery date, everything was seamless. On the day of surgery, the nurse explained everything to expect that day. When Dr. Reish came to meet me in the exam room before the surgery he was incredibly personable (considering Dr. Nassif had never come into an exam room throughout my pre- and post-op experience, I would have to wait to be escorted into his office). I went through my list of all the things that bothered me about my nose with Dr. Reish which I brought so I wouldn’t forget anything since I knew I would be nervous. He was then able to feel my nose and the things that concerned me.He noted that it actually felt and looked worse than my immediate post op photo from previous surgery. Having him understand my concerns gave me such validation for the feelings I had been having. I had hidden the fact that I was pursuing another surgery from my family and friends for fear of being judged. This increased my anxiety with the upcoming surgery. Dr. Reish texted me after I had arrived back at the hotel to see how I was feeling and asked if I wanted to see the pre- and post-photos. I obviously did and was speechless at how incredible my nose looked after surgery. I spent the night of surgery in the hotel and returned to Boston to finish my recovery the next day.Dr. Reish continued to check in with me to make sure I was feeling good and to see if I had any questions. When I returned home, I was already so in love with my nose even with the cast on that I kept a drip pad on all week because otherwise I just kept staring at my nose in awe of how perfect he had made the tip. When I had my cast off earlier this week, Dr. Reish assured me my nose is still incredibly swollen. However, I must say that if my nose looked like it looks today in a year, I would be a thousand percent satisfied. I can’t even begin to articulate what it is like to wash up and not catch a glimpse of a Polly beak staring back at me in the mirror and have the guilt lifted off my shoulders that came with having elective surgery and regretting doing so by having an unsatisfactory result. As I stated in my opening, I am so incredibly blessed to have found Dr. Reish. He fixed the disorganization inside my nose from my last surgery and created a beautiful, balanced nose that aesthetically fits my face and had restored my confidence. What I have learned from all of this is that if you are considering surgery, you have to ensure that you are aligned with the aesthetic of the results the surgeon is producing. Seeing one patient with a good result is not enough. When I looked at Dr Reish’s Instagram and website it is so clear that he is aligned with the aesthetic I was looking for (and everyone is looking for in all honesty). Don’t choose a surgeon based on the number of Instagram followers they have or if they have a TV show. Make sure there is extensive evidence that represents their actual work. And last, do not fear being judged if something is bothering you. Having elective surgery is an emotional journey as oftentimes afterwards there are thoughts of “why did I change myself”, especially if the healing is lengthy and you are isolated.Fortunately, thanks to Dr. Reish as soon as I saw the photo, I knew I was in love with my new nose. My experience with everyone I came into contact with through the process of surgery with Dr. Reish has been nothing short of stellar. Dr. Reish is not only an incredible surgeon, he is an incredible person and I am so incredibly thankful and blessed to have found him.
Note: I will add additional photos when I have my 2 month post op.
