Some photos

Adding some photos. I added 2 before pictures of resting face and the dynamic lines when I smile. Also altering some after photos (immediately after, that evening, and next day). The pain right now at 2 days post is only felt when smiling and not at all when resting. I'll post some 2 day post ops here in a bit. I hope I can cover my lip bruise a little better. I'm not good with makeup soooo I guess I better learn!

Decided to Try It

The lines around my mouth have bothered me for several years now. I talked with Bruce Chan several times on the options to "improve" this. He initially suggested Radiesse but I didn't feel comfortable with using a product that cannot be dissolved if something were to go wrong.. so we decided on Restylane Lyft which can add a little more volume than regular Restylane but can also be dissolved if needed.

After we decided on the product we decided 1 restylane lift syringe -- half and half on my cheek and then regular restylane on the corners of my mouth (half and half) so a total of 2 syringes.

The process was not that painful. First Bruce Chan injected numbing in the injection sites and waited a few minutes. Then he started the restylane injections. The worst part was the noise moreso than the pain. It felt like pressure. The overall process took about 45 minutes. Bruce also talked me through the whole process, letting me know where I'll feel pressure and really just comforted me as I was EXTREMELY nervous!! After the injections, Bruce told me to expect swelling for a few days and gave me an ice pack. I'm not going to lie I felt kind of "meh" after the process because my entire face was numb and it was hard to talk. It felt similar to how you feel after getting a tooth filling.. the whole face is numb and you feel not the most confident.

I decided not to fully judge my process until 2 weeks post procedure. I did unfortunately bruise afterwards on one of my cheeks. I do feel pain now at 1 day post-op... the best way to describe it is I feel like I've been smiling non-stop and my cheeks hurt from it. It's a very tolerable pain though. I also have some swelling. I sorta look like a chipmunk. I'm not sure if others notice it as much as me. My swelling makes me think back to how I swelled during wisdom teeth removal... puffy checks.

I'll post some pictures of the before and after. I have debated this "procedure" for years!! So I hope I can help others decide if this is something they should do or not. Again, I don't plan on making my decision until 2 weeks post-op. But I'll share the process with you...

Side note: Bruce Chan is a Physician Assistant with a MBA in medical science and has trained under many doctors but he himself is not a board certified doctor. I decided to go with Bruce Chan due to his bedside manners (the BEST!) and the fact he does ONLY injections and botox and has gained tons of experience with great before and after shots. The doctor I was going to move forward with uses his nurse to do injections. Overall, I felt more comfortable with Bruce Chan as he has the best bedside manners, is understanding, and wants everyone to feel the best version of themselves!
