No more eyebags
I went to Dr. Kapadia for the first time about a year and a half ago for a consultation about under eye bags. I’m only 28 years old and after losing 70 pounds, my eye bags became so bad that they basically cancelled out any happiness I should’ve felt at dropping the weight. I was really upset about it and would spend a bunch of time trying to cover it up with makeup (which of course didn’t work) It may sound vain but you can probably imagine it’s quite disappointing to work so hard to fix one problem to end up with another one in its place.
I have sensitive pale skin and VERY sensitive eyes (and am being monitored/at risk for a few different eye problems) so I had a lot of concerns about this procedure and did hours and hours of research before I settled on Dr. Kapadia.
Fast forward to my consultation where Dr. Kapadia told me surgery would be the most effective option (I was not ready for that) but that we could try fillers and see if it would help mask the bags. He was also very upfront about how much filler I would require (likely 3 vials), how much it would cost ($1,800) and the recovery time (this isn’t a “lunchtime” procedure, swelling/bruising can range from a few days to a few weeks depending on the person).
About a month later, I came back for the actual procedure. Let me preface this by saying that this is by far the most money I’ve ever spent on myself so it was a very difficult decision to make because of that. (NOTE: his prices are VERY reasonable. I just still have college loans I’m paying off HA)
I was extremely nervous but the office was bright, clean and had a nice ambiance and he and his staff (Kara and Donna, who are also wonderful) were very professional and did their best to comfort me. I definitely felt safe there. There’s very little pain (if any) because they apply local anesthetic, it’s more the mental image of the needle that is distressing than anything else. It was clear that he knew what he was doing and that he took a lot of pride in his work. He is definitely conservative in how much filler to use and he always makes sure his patients schedule a 2 week follow-up (appointment is free and he tries to leave some filler for touch-ups).
I had the usual swelling and bruising that gradually got better over 1-2 weeks. Appearance-wise, my under eye bags looked much better after the fillers however over the next few months I did experience some recurrent swelling that would last 2-3 days and I got concerned that I was having a delayed allergic reaction of some kind. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Kapadia and he did not brush off my concerns which I appreciated so much ( I have noticed a lot of doctors on RealSelf pretend recurrent swelling/allergic reactions can’t possibly be a result of HA fillers) He explained this can happen and it usually gets better with time but that I should come in again in a few months. If the swelling hadn’t resolved itself by that point, his recommendation would be to dissolve the filler (which he knows how to do). Thankfully, over time, this issue resolved on its own as he predicted however I did come back to check in a few months later and again was not charged. I can’t tell you how comforting it is to know that I can come in as needed and not have to worry about hidden fees.
I also came back a year later to add more filler to my cheeks (additional tear trough filler was not needed) and my results were even better than before (and swelling lasted for 2 days max, it was very mild). I’ve also gone back to Dr. Kapadia for lip filler and my first ever botox treatment – both with excellent results. We spread this out over 3 appointments to make sure everything looked natural.
He is very very talented at what he does but equally as important (perhaps moreso even) is the fact that he is highly ethical. Anyone who does their research knows that there is a lot of shadiness within the cosmetic medical industry and I went into this experience highly skeptical. Dr. Kapadia has really earned my trust, I know that if I ever had a complication or felt unsatisfied about the results of something, he would be available to address my concerns and treat me with respect.
I know this may sound silly but this procedure has been a blessing for me. It’s truly an amazing feeling to no longer have to be weighed down by that insecurity and go out with zero face makeup and not think twice. I feel grateful to have found Dr. Kapadia and I would recommend him to friends and family without hesitation
