Restylane for depressed scar

Restylane for Depressed Scar

Trustworthy8644
I had a restylane injection for a depressed scar. If you've done any research you know, is it fixed forever, no. For me, did it stop it from bothering me almost instantly, yes. Yes there was swelling, I knew that going in, The swelling was probably only noticeable to me and in certain lighting. Swelling went down in about 3 days. Make sure to ice as often as you can have some arnica topical and pellets on hand as I do believe this helped with swelling. I do believe the main reason it looks as good as it does or as good as it possibly could look is because of Dr Chiu's expertise with the syringe. To me there is further treatment necessary to even out the texture, which Dr Chiu will discuss with me as far as expectation of further improvement and whether the cost is worth that level of improvement. Dr Chiu did not try to sell me anything. Im hoping to do further treatment that will make it look less noticeable when the restylane is gone. Do yourself a favor and go to someone that is surgical with the syringe vs cost. If you got a deal on a groupon and youre happy with the results good for you, if you did that and youre not happy consider the person actually doing the injections. I wanted to put a before and after but it wasn't possible for me to get the lighting where you could see the depression anymore, you can still see the line where the skin was open when the injury/the scar originally occurred, but the restylane was only for the depression, that line or discoloration etc (which is barely noticeable) would have to be resolved through other means. Likely Ill try microneedle, possible laser, which Dr Chiu does all of. So for me for a quick fix, stop worrying about it, quit looking at it, etc this was the answer. The scarring was odd shaped, I was wondering how she was going to fill it in so that it would blend in, I dont how she did it but she did

Really wish we could see a before and after, and where exactly did you have it done on you?

below my lower lip right side of my mouth. the restylane has "settled" at this point. there is still a very minor depression on the worst area of the scar and there is slight discoloration in that area as well but I knew the possibility that it would still be visible, to me anyway. I will likely do microneedling on the area to even out the texture with surrounding skin. My hope is that even if I need a "touch up" in the future the restylane will keep the depressed area lifted so new collagen will fill it in, along with microneedling if necessary. I really believe it had more to do with my dermatologist expertise at using filler than anything else. As I mentioned for a quick fix for the depressed area it was night and day to me

restylane for atrophic scar

the restylane didn't last. it is now early November 2019 its been 3 1/2 months. the depressed area I had injected is now noticeable again. Dunno if Id go to same dermatologist again $600 for such a small area seems to pricey for how long it lasts. Dr Annie reason for this is she has now fee schedule for spot treatments. I wanted to try microneedling with her, but I cant see getting charged for full face $500 for a small spot and I wouldnt mind doing my full face but I work outside in the California sun and with the public. I already know from doing some diy microneedling that I require major downtime. Theyre not gonna let me take work without it being planned for an elective procedure. Something I didn't like, I had to call her office for a follow up. They did not check on me at all, not cool. I was there for scarring she knew it was my 1st time trying anything like this. I think maybe her office is too busy and more geared toward women going for repeat business on maintenance type procedures, facials etc. Even though her website shows all the procedures they do and what they treat there. Also I do not like even the thought of being charged another consultation fee to ask a question that was not cool either. Thats silly and out of line. I paid the consult fee already I would think ok youre my dermatologist from here on out. I got vibe she didn't wanna deal with me or she was unsure of dealing with me. I feel a lot of these dermatologists are too busy for their own good and if they cant help through an entire process they should refund the consult fee and say they cant help you. If its something theyre not use to dealing in say so. That consult, I count the part where I actually spoke to the dr, was maybe 10-15 minutes max, granted the consult fee went toward the restylane injection. The first thing she told me was do nothing, really $200 for do nothing? That would then negate a lot of the scar treatments the website shows that she performs/has experience in, false advertising. Then they were ready to do the restylane right then, I opted to wait so I could have downtime off work is necessary. Then they gave me all this pre procedure literature. What? why would they be ready to do it immediately when Im suppose to be off blood thinners, prescription, OTC and homeopathic for couple weeks which they new from all the paperwork I filled out before the consult, weird. In a hurry to get the rest of my money? The depressed area was also discolored which was also a concern, she said it was shadow, it wasn't, after the injection you could see it was discoloration and not shadow. Has nothing to do with me not being able to pay. I expect personalized care when I coming out of pocket for every penny of procedure. Shes very good at what she does at least when it came to restylane injection as for the rest I dunno. She also wanted to charge me $125 for a tube of hydroquinone, thats a bit steep. Likely going to look elsewhere at this point. I dont like feeling rushed through something to make a choice. I would've thought you could ask as many questions as you like, but this was exactly like going to Kaiser or any insurance doctor Ive been too. She wont be reading this so I have no concern of putting negative feedback here

Hi! I have/had awful scaring on my cheeks. I have done it all - microneedling, injections all kinds of stuff, nothing worked all that well. At the first of this month i decided to go all in and pay for several fraxel treatments, i have done one treatment so far and the difference is outstanding. The happiest ive been with any treatment. I only had maybe 3 days of down time. I am getting another treatment in December. I think i will need about 3 before my scaring is completely gone! Just wanted to tell you about my experience in hopes that it maybe gives you anothet option!

The bummer is I asked the dermatologist about everything her website claimed she had available. Showed several laser options. Maybe she thought it was too much too soon, maybe she thought I didn't have the money to pay for it, Ill never know, Im not going back to her. In the near future Im going to a different dermatologist. I hope Im not going down a rabbit hole. Ive begun microneedling myself, trying to get the color to come back at present, got some hyperpigment from the needling and its being stubborm. I would consider laser for sure. Wish there was another option for atrophic scarring (the depressed/tethered areas) besides filler. Subscision looks ok but I haven't seen any cases where it actually kept the depressed areas raised. Doesnt look worth the downtime and money for it to just go back to how it was before. Like I mentioned, the dermatologist I went to is a great doctor, but I got vibe she didn't want to work with me, shes looking for repeat customers on a maintenance schedule. Says she does scarring on her website, didn't get that vibe. And $200 to ask another question about a different area, really? I already paid the initial consult fee, to me that means Im your patient now, I should be free to ask anything. I know shes not reading this so I really dont care about the negative connotation. You know whats crazy, I believe one day this will all be solved with stem cells. Youll just say can you fix this? step into a machine poof done, star trek [RS bleep]
