I'm posting this because I had read a lot of the Realself reviews on this procedure, and several of the success stories belonged to those who barely had any chin fat to begin with. I think those stories are helpful if you have very little fat as well, but I had to wonder whether the same result be possible on me. I had the chin of a morbidly obese individual (despite being an average-sized woman), and I was definitely NOT looking for a subtle result.
Dr. Schoenfeld was extremely honest and did not push to up-sell any additional procedures. He said that SlimLipo would be adequate to achieve my goal of removing the double-chin, and was nice enough to get me in for surgery the following Tuesday. I got a good vibe about him (he just seemed extremely intelligent & competent... always good in someone who is going to operate on you!).
The actual procedure wasn't painful... The local anesthesia injection shots were probably the worst parts of the procedure. The whole thing was over in less than 45 minutes.
I started swelling about an hour afterwards and continued to swell badly for 24 hours afterwards, but had absolutely no bruising. The swelling would go down throughout the day, but I'd wake up each morning with swelling (I think this was also because my compression garment kept falling off while I was sleeping). I'm on Day 3 now and the swelling is a lot less severe in the morning, but still there.
However, I can already see (even with the swelling) that my face no longer looks obese! I only wish I had done this earlier.

How often you used your compression garment and which one did you use?

Honestly, I wasn't too good about it. It kept falling off when I slept, and I couldn't stand to wear it too often. I had it for 12 hours straight the first day, wore it off and on the next few days, and then wore it only a couple hours a day the rest of the week. I had a lot of swelling, which is probably due to not wearing the garment. However, now that I am 1.5 weeks out, the swelling is reduced greatly.

I live in the DMV area too and am contemplating the same procedure. Did you visit other Doctors? Did you think about doing the Kybella shot at all?

I did not find the shot cost-effective. The places I called wanted tons of money per treatment, required at least three treatments, and the results are minimal from the photos I've seen. I needed more of a result because of how bad my double chin was, and I couldn't risk wasting my money on something that was only halfway effective.
I did visit a couple of other doctors. I ended up going with the one I did because it was cost-effective, he was super qualified, I found him extremely honest, and I liked his office staff. They were able to squeeze me in at the last minute. I did like another doctor I saw in Columbia, Maryland as well, but they wouldn't book me for another month.

I am in the same boat! I am not overweight at all, infact I am very petite but my double chin make me look OBESE. I also live in the dmv area. I'm really happy to see your procedure went well! Would love to hear an update!

I'm day 3 and you are supposed to wear 24/7 three days (in my case) and then as often as possible for a week. I have bruising but can see a difference even with the swelling and bruising. My Dr. Gave me the garment and instructions on how to wear.
I can see a difference already too- keep us posted on the rest of your healing.
