Easy does it

I took the low-key approach ... Adam's Apple removal by Dr. Ousterhout in SF, some minor Facial Feminization surgery by Dr. McCormack in Reno. Eating right, living happily, avoiding drama, mildly exercising, enjoying life. I'm avoiding drugs, smoking, and drinking. I'm precisely and carefully on corrective hormones, so my own boobies are finally growing like they should have done, during puberty. So far so good. I'm not winning any beauty contests but I'm a happy girl. And maybe that's what counts in the end, anyways!! :-)

I used to have a very large nose with a bulbous tip -- totally unfeminine. So, I had it reduced in size, in early 2012. The local surgeon who did the work was wonderful as a person and I loved the results. Anyway, shortly afterwards I saw another plastic surgeon far away about a planned surgery that my local doctor doesn't perform.

This other surgeon was rather critical of the work that my local surgeon had done, and he expressed the concern that (as she'd told me she'd do) she had been very conservative. His point was that it was overly conservative and he'd have made my nose smaller yet. Over two and a half years, I got to see what he meant, as my nose steadily grew back to nearly its original size. It's still smaller than it used to be and the interim period gave me a nicer look than I' d ever had, but I have no particular reason to believe my nose is going to stop growing. Plus it's not exactly straight any more. So ... yeah. Not ideal.

The irony is that I suspected from the start that the more-critical doctor would do a better job since he's done magnificent work on my Adam's Apple but his way of expressing himself as to my aesthetic challenges made me cringe inside whereas the local doctor was warm and friendly. This greatly affected my decision of where to go.

This sounds so petty I'm embarrassed to write it, but my local surgeon dealt with me in a way where I felt basically pretty but could still use some improvement. The other surgeon dealt with me in a way where I felt basically ugly but things could be improved. I hasten to add that both doctors were very professional and I'm not complaining.

I'm still glad that I experienced this temporary improvement but I wouldn't go back to the same lady for subsequent treatment even though as a person she and her staff are wonderfully warm and supportive.

These pictures were all taken in the last 2 days; basically 2.5 years after the procedure. I'm not unhappy but I'm not super-happy either. And I have new appreciation for how it's not just how one looks 3 months after the surgery but also 3 years after it. The human body is darn complex as to how it reacts to things, wow.

I'd rather not say. She was wonderful. As a human being and a doctor, I love her. As to the results now that 2.5 years have gone ... not super-great. I understand now that noses tend to grow back but with that knowledge it'd probably have made sense to overcompensate accordingly.
