As one reviewer says "expect the worst and hope for the best" Although I'm a serious chicken when it comes to pain and medical sights and smells, I am committed to doing this. As most say, they wish the date were sooner (in fact I called to see if there was the possibility of moving the date up) I find the worst thing is to ask for help. I'm single, no family but friends that I share this with are so supportive and offer help. I think about my pets (who are always jumping on my lap and needing attention) It's now or never, after a 65 pound weight loss there are rolls and no waist to speak of. I worked too hard not to be in awe of my achievement .

Everyone reacts differently to pain...so worry about it after the fact and prepare for the future now while you can. I was so drugged during the first few days that at the time, there was pain...but I don't really remember it! I think it is hardest on your caregiver who worries and can't do much to help you...my husband claims he is forever scarred as I cried and whined non-stop for a couple days...and then the sun came out and the pain subsided. Focus on Day 4...

And I have 2 small dogs who were very worried about me. They spent 2 weeks being banished from my room to keep from jumping on stitches...the cockapoo puppy would howl outside my door. I am still sometimes sleeping in my recliner (I just had revision surgery 2 weeks ago) and he loves to find a way to "join" me there...just to get close. I kept a big pillow on my lap so it they jumped up unexpectantly, this cushioned the blow...
Good for you after the large weight loss...I bet your results will be spectacular!

Thank you so much--I appreciate the feedback from another dog lover! It seems that I always have a critter on my lap when I'm home. The 20 pound monster isn't very gentle when he takes a flying leap towards my lap. I'll keep you posted--this isn't a very easy decision and oftentimes I wonder if I'll have the guts to go through with it.

I am using lots of good smell: you can buy them with oils on Amazon and I regularly smell coffee beans due my chronic illness that centers me, very dark blend coffee beans. I put them in a medicine bottle and sniff away. See my site for the one form Amazon.
