Motivations: I recently posted about my CO2 laser experience done a few months ago and, as promised, I'd share my PRP experience with you. I've been struggling with acne since I was in middle school, I am 25 now. Although my acne is now under control, it left behind the most embarrassing, self-esteem blowing, acne scars. I tried creams, scar gels, vitamins, silicone based makeup primers and no matter what I did or how much makeup I put on, my skin looked terrible.
I had another successful treatment at Cloud 9 Medi Spa in Redlands, CA. I'm telling you guys, it's a hidden gem. They offer free consultations so I made an appointment to inquire what would be a treatment that I'd get the best results with. I knew that any treatment I did I'd need more than one, my expectations were realistic considering how pock marked my skin was. The results from the CO2 laser were pretty stellar, but since I had deep scarring, I knew I had a few more treatments to go to be where I was comfortable in my skin. Find my CO2 laser post to see before/afters!
Now let's talk about the PRP microneedle and injection treatment.
I was numbed up with numbing cream so I didn't really experience any pain, except a little more sensitivity on my forehead. The nurse drew my blood, placed it in the centrifuge, and voila! Liquid gold! After she microneedled with the PRP, my face felt tight, like the PRP was already tightening my skin! Weird I know, but I'm just sharing my experience. Then she injected my deeper acne scars with PRP. It's filled in my scars immediately but only because the PRP needed time to be utilized by my skin. Typically PRP injection results aren't immediate because they're not a filler, but rather they signal your own skin to stimulate collagen and generate new tissue to fill in the area, which takes at least a month. I was red for a few hours after treatment and then pink for 2-ish days. Not long at all! This treatment was so easy and I'm pleased with my results. Please don't hesitate to message me, I'm happy to answer any questions about my experience!

Thank you for sharing! I’ve been looking for solutions for pitted scarring on my cheeks for nearly 20 years. The few times I had consultations, the only solution given was laser resurfacing, which would have costed $2k+ at that time. I felt like technology would bring about more solutions over time. What options were you looking into and how do you feel that this option was more beneficial?

Thanks for commenting, if there's one thing I can talk about for hours is skin! I realize mostly because I've tried so many products, treatments, and vitamins that I've found what works best for me, and I love learning about the new ways that will help my skin regenerate. I recently had my second CO2 laser done this year, about 2-3 months before my Microneedle with PRP. The CO2 laser at the medi spa I went to was actually less expensive than the PRP treatment. please look at my review of my experience with CO2 to see my before/afters. To be honest, I really really like both treatments. The microneedle with PRP was much less down time, however, which was nice. There's something about the idea of PRP injected into my deeper acne scars that made me feel like I was REALLY getting down to the root of the problem and really delivering nutrients to the damaged structure in my skin to regenerate. I know that I will need more treatments because my skin is not where I want it to be yet, but I'm having a hard time deciding which one I want to do next since I really enjoyed both results. I will say, whichever treatment you decide to go with, one thing that I think really boosted the "fill-in" process was mixing collagen powder and Vitamin C (emergen-C) packets with my water every morning. It makes sense, if we're supplying our body with more of what it needs to regenerate our skin, why wouldn't it help? Also, your healthcare provider will be able to better direct you on the best procedure for what you're looking to achieve. Cloud 9 Medi spa in Redlands, CA offers free consultations so I was able to tell her my concerns, my budget, and she was able to tell me realistic results and around how many treatments I'd need to achieve my desired goal. Oh, also I just read a blog on silicone scar sheets helping! I searched it on amazon and found a highly rated one, I'm going to try that next! Apparently you just wear the silicone sheet on your scars much like a band aid when you're sleeping. If it doesn't hurt, why not?

Also, my CO2 laser was only $500 compared to the $1200 microneedle with PRP and PRP Injections. I know other places charge much more for laser resurfacing. I had it done on the light setting but I still achieved pretty good results! Look at my CO2 laser post for the pictures! I'm considering doing another CO2 laser next but on a higher setting.

You got a good result! I’m also wanting to make my skin look better - I have some mild acne pitted scars also. I’ve had 2 micro needling treatments and they definitely help! I’m going to try the PRP next time - I haven’t had the PRP with the micro-needling. Thanks for sharing.

Yes! I've used at-home microneedling kits but I might have made my skin worse to be honest. The PRP is like miracle serum! I'm having another one done in 2 weeks. I will update my progress!

Dear do you see improvement in pores if you had any??
December 21, 2017
YES i do, but I’m not sure if it’s from a combination of using Obagi clenziderm pore therapy.

How large were the needles used? I've heard that longer needles are better for deep scarring by an esthetician I spoke to said the size doesn't matter which I find hard to believe. Please let me know! I struggle with the exact same scarring.
