WORTH IT$575
I have a thin upper lip & wanted it a little more plum. I graduate college in May & since it's the middle of March already, having filler done before, I knew I needed a little time for the initial swelling to go down & time to get back in if needed to "perfect" my pout. I had Restylane injected quite a few years ago but as everything does over time, filler brands changed. The newest brand on the market in 2016 is Juvederm. Restylane lasted me between 2-3 years, whereas Juvederm was very short lived and in me only lasted about a month. For the price (including 20% off), I paid $550 per vile & had 1 whole vile injected. $550 for a 30 "trial" was not worth the discomfort so I waited a few months for the product to dissolve & made an appointment to have Restylane injected. I bought 2 viles knowing I would use 1. You can keep any left over filler for up to 1 year before your doctor throws it out. My provider does not charge to do touch ups. Though Juvederm is softer feeling, Restylane lasts much longer resulting in saved time, money & for me, pain. The numbing agent does NOT work on me so though it is applied, I feel each injection site. Arnica gel can help alleviate bruising & reduce swelling. In the 2nd picture here, my lips are still very swollen. More swollen than with Juvederm. I had the procedure done on Thursday to have Friday & the weekend for swelling to go down. I will post a follow up picture 2 weeks after today to show you how the swelling has gone down.

OUTSTANDING service by receptionists and doctors. My practitioner, Jennie, is truly a caring & compassionate person. The numbing agent doesn't really work on me so she has another doctor come in to hold my hand & to wipe my tears & clean up my mascara. She allows my husband to come in the room with me & he also holds my hand. The process though painful for me, wouldn't be for the majority of people. I spend little to no time waiting to get in a room, depending on how early I arrive for my appointment. Their office is always on schedule. Jennie answered all questions I had though there were only a few as I readily researched fillers before my first time. She gave my lips a very natural look & the first time she filled them, she did less instead of more to avoid the overfilled look. After the bruising & swelling went down, my lips look natural. Very full, but natural. 2 weeks after my initial appointment, she has me come back to fill any additional areas to create symmetry, if needed. I don't think I'll need additional filler when I go back this time. The payment process is very easy. I can pay with cash or a card.

How do your lips feel? Do you feel the fillers?
March 13, 2016
For the first day, my lips were sore but that was primarily due to the fact that the numbing agent didn't work for me. they work on most people & they are same thing used in dentist offices to make your mouth numb. They just don't work on me. Lucky me, right? Haha! Yes. I definitely feel the filler. I have had Restylane before then tried Juvederm. This post is about the most recent filler, Restylane. I had it done again because for me, I feel like it lasts longer than Juvederm. The Juvederm does feel softer in my lips but the Restylane isn't much different, but there is a bit of a different feeling in that it feels more firm in my lips. For me, Restylane lasts about 2-2 1/2 years whereas the Juverderm only lasted about a month. A full syringe of Juvederm WITH the 20% off special that was running cost $450. Restylane full syringe cost $550. To me, the extra cost is worth it because Restylane lasts so much longer. With both fillers, I could feel them in my lips. No drinking with a straw for at least the first week so the filler sets up completely but if you can wrap your tongue around the straw that may actually be easier than trying to drink from a cup as you may need time to get used to the added fullness of your lips. Today marks 3 days since I had the filler put in. I had them done Thursday afternoon & today is Sunday. The swelling is almost completely gone & I only have a tiny very light bruise on the side of my lips which can easily be covered up.

Looks nice but it does look like you got them done which is ok I am still searching for a method that doesnt make it look "done". Good luck.

An option for those not wanting to look "done", is simply to get less filler. My preference is a very full look therefore I opted for 2 full vials of product. An option for a look you may prefer is to have 1/2 or only 1 vial injected. I always start with 1, wait 2 weeks for the swelling to go down, then get another. I hope that helps in your decision making process :)

24-hour update

It has been just over 24 hours since my Restylane filler. I went to the gym like normal, came home & got cleaned up then snapped this picture wearing the same shirt as yesterday when I had the product injected. Though my lips are still slightly sore, the swelling has gone down considerably & the little bit of bruising is almost completely gone which is not typical for me because I bruise easily & they last forever! I will take another picture in a week so you can see the difference from one day to one week.

1 week update

Here is a current picture exactly 1 week after the initial injection. I had one vial injected of Restylane & the swelling & bruising are completely gone now. I have a 2 week check up appointment in 1 week. I plan to have a little more filler put in my top lip & maybe a little more in the bottom but not much.

Very nice! You look fantastic! I just recieved my first syringe of Juvederm in my lips and am going in on the 28th of this month for my second visit - we wanted to see how the first syringe took and let it settle before adding more :)

Fantastic! I'm going back in for a little more filler this Friday the 25th. I don't think I'll get another full syringe on Friday but I will definitely get more in the top than in the bottom in an effort to even the fullness out. I'll take a look at your pics too! Yaay!
