It Didn't Work

So I didn't have my teeth planed down because my insurance won't cover it. So I'm back to square one. I feel like I wasted my money and I'm very disappointed. In the end, the takeaway is you need to be evaluated by a dentist to see if aligners are going to work for you FIRST before investing the money. Lesson learned.

Not Moving....sad face :-(

So I had one month to go, and my bottom tooth just wasn't moving into place. I reached out to SmileDirect in August and they had me do a new set of aligners. I had to do the forms twice this time. I didn't receive my new set of aligners until December! I started this journey nearly a year ago because I knew I would be getting married in 2019 and I wanted my teeth to be straight.

My new set of aligners needed to be worn for only two months. I'm three weeks in, and went to my dentist. He said I could wear them for the next year, and my bottom tooth wasn't going to shift. There simply isn't enough room between my teeth for that tooth to get pushed into place. He suggested planing down my front teeth - each one a tiny bit - so my tooth would have enough room to shift. He said it's the only way that tooth is going to move, and honestly I believe him. So I'm scheduling that for January. He also feels it's going to take longer than two months for my teeth to shift. He feels it will take closer to 6. Which would barely be in enough time for my wedding in June. But I'm going to try it.

I'm frustrated that SmileDirect didn't tell me this tooth didn't have enough room to shift. I'm also frustrated that it's going to cost me even MORE money to get this done right.

I will update....

3 Months Down, 2 to Go

Was hoping there would be a bigger visual change. I notice it mostly in my bottom teeth. They still have a ways to go, and I hope that can be accomplished in the next two months. I'm supposed to be done on 8/28/18.
