I been debating to write a review but I need the courage.
I'm 30 years old at 180lbs and am a 38G/H. I want to go down to a 38 C/D so that I can get some shoulder and back pain relief. The pain is unbearable and I can no longer take it and I can't sleep. I have to stand with my back arched to get some kind of relief at all times, crazy right! The issue? I'm terrified that something might go terribly, I think I probably psyched myself out from watching videos on you tube of what can go wrong. To be completely honest, I'm terrified mostly of the scaring and the possibility of losing sensation.
I have to change my insurance so that I can get the consultation with the doctors of my choice, because I seen the doctors my insurance offers and honestly I'm not impressed. I guess I'm here to find help to ease my fears. It's not an easy choice to make, I have had large breast since I was 21. I was a C cup at 20 and once I turned 21 I grew a bra size with out realizing it until I was 28 years old. The goal is to have them reduced for my 31st birthday. Any recommendation for the Raleigh/Durham area?

Hello. I am from/live in Raleigh. I just had my surgery 2 weeks ago on Oct 2nd. You should check out my profile. My surgeon was Dr Rhett High at Raleigh Plastic Surgery and he was/is awesome. I had no real pain at all and believe me I was a nervous wreck before my surgery and was totally freaking myself out. This was my first (and hopefully my last) surgery. I had a great experience dealing with Dr High and his team. I am still in the healing process but I am 100% happy that I did it. If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to message me. I also have a YouTube journey videos up if you need the info to check those out. I tried to be as detailed as possible.

Went to have my annual on the 19 of October and she agreed that it's time to get these puppies reduced! I'm so stoked...
She recommended two doctors that she swears are great, Dr. Richard Carlino and Dr. Michelle Roughton (UNC). Has any one had a reduction from them before? How was your experience? I can't get my consultation until I change my insurance so I'm scoping doctors out prior to. Any information on these two doctors would be awesome!

I'm also from Raleigh and hoping to get a reduction I'm 60 and they have never stopped growing..32G now. I don't know anyone who has had this procedure and therefore don't know which doctors have had the most reduction cases and who excel at it. I will look up the doctors who you were referred to. I'm guessing the initial consultation visits are not free. Do you have BC/BS?

Sooo, I do have BCBS and Dr. Michelle Roughton is on my doctors list. You can go online and log into your account, search for procedure and when you put plastic surgeon all the ones under your plan show up. Research every one and that's how I came to search for mine. I had two people with two different situations use Dr. Richard Carlino in Raleigh. One has breast cancer the other just had a reduction due to size and they both highly recommended him. That's why I atleast want a consultation with him... He's not under my doctors list.

Hi, Thanks for letting me know about BCBS. I will look into that. I don't know if insurance will cover me though. As large as I am I don't have pain just grooves in my shoulders and believe it or not sometimes when i lie down the boobs seems to flatten out and feel as if they are cutting air flow off at the base of my neck. that's probably weird or maybe not. :) Roughton only got 3 1/2 stars on healthgrades and that isn't good at all. Have you looked up Brian Coan (he's in Durham but very smart guy with great reviews... I emailed his office to ask how many reductions he's done...hopefully they will reply), Stoeckel in Cary and Law in North Raleigh? They seem to have the best reviews.

No it's not weird... I lay down and I can't breath half the time! Yes try it because if insurance can help with not all of the cost but some it will still be better than nothing. None of those doctors you mentioned are under my insurance and I seen her grades... I'm not happy about them either but my gyn recommended her to me because they are both friends. She's the director of the UNC burn unit and something... So I was hoping her grades were not great because of some other stuff and not her talent. That's me hoping for a lot! So far I emailed her office and she emailed me from her personal email that same night. Made sure I got a call the next day to set an appointment. So far so good, unlike the doc I want who I still have not gotten word from.

You are correct.....Something is better than nothing. I take ratings pretty seriously. I had gone to a dermatologist for just a check up. In fact my husband had used her and thought she was okay. I couldn't stand the entire office environment and after the fact looked at her reviews and she only had 3 1/2 stars. I won't listen to my husband any more! So the list is pretty restrictive on BCBS. I wonder why. With that said I suppose for elective surgeries doctors know people will pay out of pocket so why cut a deal with insurance companies when they can get just what they want. maybe i'm being cynical. ha. Please keep in touch with me as I'd really like your opinion on the doctors you consult with. I'm more fearful of the anaesthetic aspect of the operation and if the surgery is in a hospital. And insurance just sucks ass... No other way to put it. I had surgery twice and I just woke up shivering... The fear of not waking up was real but it worked out. I'll email you Monday after my appointment let you know how the consultation went, have a great day.

I am 42 and looking to rid myself of these 36ddd OMG THE PAIN! I am also in raleigh and can't find any good info especially the cost. I have been saving and am at about 6200 would this be enough?

I have to push my dream Breast Reduxtion back, have to have emergency laparoscopy to remove two cyst and right ovary that are giving me grief!

Thank you. It went ok, they ended taking the right Fallopian tube out as well so no pain for 3 weeks... Went back and they found another cyst!
Hey Girlie! Welcome to the community and thank you for finding the courage to start your review. I am very glad that you are here with us and I hope we can help erase your fears.
This is a big process but one well worth the results. After my reduction I felt like a new woman immediately. My neck, back and shoulder pain were gone for good. My scars healed very nicely with time and a little scar therapy.
