Saving Face...Ultherapy
As a 43 yr old mom of three, I'm still vain enough to want to fight mother nature a bit, but mature enough to go to limited lengths in the name of that fight. I've used Xeomin/Botox/Fillers for several years now but haven't been as happy seeing the quality of my skin decline because the underlying fat stores were aging right along with me. I decided to bite the bullet and give Ultherapy a try after seeing so many compelling before/after photos online.
Through the grapevine, I had heard people wonder about the discomfort of the procedure, but I was instructed to take a couple of Advil before my appointment and I found that to be plenty. I actually didn't mind the "zingers", because I knew those pulses would equate to improved tone and tightness in that area, so I visualized every step of the process as being good for me...once I reframed the sensation, it didn't bother me at all. It really isn't pain...it's just an odd sensation. After year of needles in my face in the name of beauty, a little buzzing wand wasn't anything to fear!
Dana, from Skin Vitality, spoke to me throughout the procedure and I was able to watch her views into my skin through the ultrasound monitor...it was a true education. I loved seeing exactly what was happening. She has that artist's eye in terms of knowing how her use of the Ultherapy would translate into results. So while she was working, she would explain what she was doing and how that part of my contours would show improvement after the treatments. I loved it.
Immediately after the procedure, I had just a small bit of swelling, but I went about the rest of my day per usual. Easy!
I had one spot on my jawline that was sensitive for a couple of days, like I had bruised it (there was NO visible bruise), but it was somewhat satisfying...again, knowing that would result in positive changes due to the procedure.
If I had to guess, I'd say I started seeing improvements within a couple of months but the most results were apparent a couple of months after that. I feel like the laxity in my jawline has improved and the quality of my under-eye skin looks smoother. Friends continue to compliment my skin, but I actually think they are just noticing more of the plumping from underneath, from the Ultherapy.
With the downtime required from laser treatments, I'm more liable to repeat Ultherapy and get on with my day.
I've only had one treatment but I'm eager to do more and add this to my ongoing preventative maintenance. Anything that delays true surgery but gives lasting results is important to me, my health, and my happiness as I try to look as healthy as I feel.
(I'll have to find some photos to post as before/after...stay tuned)
