7 days after ProFractional treatment
So far, I'm happy with my treatment. After 24 hours the minimal pain I was feeling had already subsided. After a few days of slightly peeling my skin, I've noticed some improvement in texture. I'm today 7 days post treatment and notice my skin somewhat more smooth. I still see wrinkles and discoloration I had gained from radiation therapy, but do expect to see more improvement overall from my next two sessions. I'll keep updating.
Three Days After Treatment
At my first day of treatment, I've felt some discomfort at night time, but that was expected. At my day two, discomfort was completely gone and I've noticed that my skin has started peeling slightly when I showered. At my third day, skin is peeling a bit more. I have no discomfort at all, and feeling great. Have gone back to the gym already 24 hours after treatment.
My ProFractional Laser Resurfacing Experience
I've had my first ProFractional Laser treatment with Dr. Philip Schoenfeld at Renu Artful Medicine in Chevy Chase MD, on June 19th, 2023.
I had been for years very greatful for having good genetics with very young skin. However, I was diagnosed with a sinus nasal tumor in 2020 (a rare form of cancer). This event took a tool on my well being, mental health, and among other things, my skin has become much older.
By mid 2021, I was done with my cancer removal surgery, radiation therapy, and eventually had to deal with hypothyroidism.
After experimenting with Levothyroxine for a couple of years, my hypothyroidism seems to be finally controlled. I've also been following a strict diet, exercising a ton, and drinking a load of water. The combination of all theses things seem to have helped to improve the quality of my skin. But I still feel my skin's texture is not great and I have developed several fine lines that I have hopes to get rid of with the help of the ProFractional treatment.
A friend has recommended me Dr. Schoenfeld, and so far I'm very happy to have met him. He's suggested us to be cautious with my first treatment, since we did not know how my skin would react. He's mentioned that when doctors are too aggressive applying the laser there is a possibility of it leaving redness marks and skin discoloration that may stay permanent. I do agree with Dr. Schoenfeld's decision and I'm glad he was careful with the intensity of the laser.
The good news is that at the end of the session, he realized that my skin tolerated the laser quite well, so he feels confident to use a higher intensity and go a bit more aggressive next time. He's suggested me three sessions and I'll wait about two months between sessions. I'll update this review as I progress with my treatments.Thank you for following my story.
