ORIGINAL POST

Prophilo Treatment!

Did Prophilo treatment 2 months ago.
It made my skin smooth and glowing with a lighter complexion. However, it also added unwanted volume to my jawline and made my barely noticeable pre Jowls much worse and swollen which are still present.
Although the benefits are visible , there are also unwanted side effects. Not sure I will do it again.

Hi! I have the same effect. So after such results I decided to not do 2d session. After 6 month of 1 treatment my jaw is still not back to normal
How is it now? My jawline is awful now. I’m only a week in but it was so different the last time. I had an instant lift this time I have pools of fluid making me look really old and sad. I’m trying not to panic. Please tell me yours has got better.
Is it gone now ? I am in the same situation
Hi! My face is less round , jowls are also less swollen but I feel like the skin there got stretched and it’s saggy. I never had jowls before doing the Prophilo.
You can ask to have unwanted Profhilo dissolved using hyaluronidase. The 5 point BAP injection points is just a guide, your doctor can can inject slightly modified to suit your face, avoiding areas where you are already full and inject to a different part where you face needs the plumping.
Are you a doctor? The doctor who injected profhilo into my face saying it is not possible to dissolve and that it is already gone. While I still see the unwanted volume after 1 session 6 month later now. And also face gets swallen very easily - after bath, exercising alchohol etc.
Which is very weird , if the prophilo/hyloronic acid is far gone what is it that keeps a swelling/retains water?
There must be some kind of explanation.
I am a cosmetic doctor in Queensland Australia in a small practice. Hyaluronidase is likely to work more effectively shortly after treatment, however it is still worth considering if you experience localised swelling, even if it's been some time since the treatment. If your injector has an Ultrasound, see whether he/she can see any localised areas that may respond to a small amount of local hyaluronidase. According to the training manual, there's 5 injection points, 0.2 mls each point, but I find each face is different, some areas don't need 0.2 mls, some areas need more, so even though I follow the recommended treatment schedule, I modify slightly, customising the treatment to suit the individual. Profhilo is made from hyaluronic acid and according to some clinical studies, we now know traditional HA fillers can last longer than we think.
Dear Janet,
Thank you for your detailed explanation it all makes perfect sense! What does not makes sense to me is that everywhere I read it is clearly stated that Prophilo is NOT a filler and will NOT add any volume nor change your face futures. The patients are not warned about these potential side effects. So it comes as a total surprise, when you go for a deep skin hydration treatment and you end up with extra volume in your jaw line and bigger jowls .
Regarding Hyaluronidase : Although doctors offering this as an option to dissolve any unwanted fillers ,I read lots of Negative comments from patients so as I understand this enzyme is not exactly “ innocent”. Which makes it a tough decision for us as patients .
My understanding is that the even though the molecular complex in Profhilo is based on Hyaluronic acid, it does not have the same cross linkages as those used in typical fillers.
Therefore it will not give the same "volume" effect as typical fillers. Profhilo is not viscous, and will does not have the same longevity. I suppose why the company states it is not a filler, but considered a new class of "bio-remodelling" agent.

Profhilo is very spreadable, so after injection, the molecules will flow locally (likely to areas of least resistance). The concentration, size and configuration of these molecules are able to trigger a low grade inflammatory response in the skin, therefore can stimulate collagen and tissue repair response, hence the Profhilo's claim of "tissue bio-remodelling".

Profhilo molecules have much less longevity than normal fillers, however, as it is cause low grade stimulatory response, some patients can see improvements some time after the treatment, although the tissues may need to be stimulated a few times. But all hyaluronic acid molecules attract water, so I can understand why it is possible to have local swelling as side effects, but hopefully after some time, it will settle for you.

As for your comment about hyaluronidase not exactly "innocent", I think it depends how it is being used - obviously if your doctor only use a small amount, Ultrasound guided, I cannot see how hyaluronidase will cause a lot of harm. On the contrary, during the treatment of vascular occlusions due to dermal fillers, I have heard of injections using half a dozen vials of hyaluronidase to "flood" the area. The "harm" from hyaluronidase can be due to many factors such as the amount, area, techniques etc. Until we have scientific proof that hyaluronidase is harmful, I will still use it judiciously if indicated.

Are there other collagen stimulators? Yes, of course - PLLA, Calcium hydroxyapatite are collagen stimulators. When I consider the price of PLLA, CaHA and Profhilo (Australian prices), Profhilo is not bad value for money. It's only a personal opinion, that's all. If my patients are happy with their existing laser program, or Ulthera, or CaHA, there's no need for them to change to Profhilo.
I am going through the same. My Howells are making me look 10 years older. It’s like pockets of water hanging down. Totally changed the shape of my face. I can’t wait to get it dissolved
Hi, thanks for sharing your experience! Are you going to get it dissolved? I’m personally a bit scared as I hear many stories of poor outcomes which leave the skin deflated saggy and wrinkly. I am 5 months post Prophilo...and still have these annoying jowls which I never had before. Really hope it will go down one day!!
In case you decide to dissolve, please let me know how it went.
Thanks!!
Same for me. 7 month still have the volume I don’t like and swallen in the mornings
