Well, I’d say it’s about 65% resolved now after a full 16 months. There’s still residual swelling and nodules around the mouth, jawline, cheeks and chin, but at least I can recognise myself in photos and the mirror again.
I looked so different that my phone put my post-Profhilo pictures into a whole new “person” category!
After a series of chemical peels to address the skin damage the product caused I’m happy to report that it’s looking softer and less shiny. I also use Retrieve .05 % (Retin A) and I believed that’s also helped. I’d say it’s also 60% better and there’s more progress as the product flattens out.
What really bothers me is the lack of care and consideration the medical community has for HA biostimulator complications. I can’t even count how many times I’ve heard that it’s just not possible to have complications with these types of products! The company’s own patient information leaflet clearly outlines the issues, and more can be found through their studies.
The product is known to cause long term volume in the skin. They’ve reported it @.5 cm so that’s the width of a .5 carat diamond shoved under the skin ALL OVER.

If you’re having complications grab a copy of the above paper to take with you, it will shut down any arguments that these HA products don’t cause volume.
The study also clearly states that the product has the same staying power as a crosslinked filler, and by this time the whole community should know that HA filler does not dissolved as it’s meant to and can hang around for upwards of 10 years.

Obviously there is a problem between the injecting community and the facts concerning this product. This paper came out nearly 10 years ago and the knowledge gap is unacceptable.

It’s interesting how many injectors claim that Profhilo does not cause volume in the skin, and that it only lasts 28 days before the body clears it out.
I had a cosmetic doctor roll her eyes at me and ask me how I thought it works then.
Please read the published papers on HA filler longevity (it stays in the body indefinitely), the dangers of Hyal dissolver, filler migration, fibrosis and other complications before you get any HA products.
More ethical providers are now calling these HA biostimulators “hybrid fillers”.

Thank you for your post. I'm experiencing the same result with pillowface after Profhilo, and it is utterly demoralizing. Should never have gone for it.
Is there a way to dissolve profhilo so that this bulldog puffiness can vanish & return to my pre-profhilo face shape?

I went to dissolve and it does go away very badly, i still have problems, the volume reduced a bit. I will see a complication specialist next week. If something new i will write what he suggested. Report your adverse even to IBSA and drug regulator please, otherwise they won’t try to find a solution

I'm so sorry for what you're experiencing and I hope your visit to the complication specialist is fruitful and helpful for you. It sounds like you had a complication from dissolving it too? My face looks puffy, like it had soaked up lots of water and bloated up as a result. Not swollen, painful or an allergic reaction, just an effect of the procedure which I thought would help reduce dryness only....without this much added volume.

May I ask what was used to dissolve and what happened when you did? I was told that profhilo is un-dissolvable so am stuck with this now. Wishing you all the best for your appointment next week!

They used hyaluronidase, i don’t remember the brand with a first doctor, the second one used PB serum drain, it’s hyaluronidase also, each brand has different strengths so the units differ according to brand and Dr experience, the dissolving behaves like it returns you on the beginning of injections, the volume increases, it makes again more pillow face and thrbskin starts to shine/glow (i had this 1st month after injections) so i think it’s the product degrading, if I touched my face I could feel bone on chin again after 2 days but it took almost 3 weeks to reduce the volume and notice improvement. Don’t please look at lip dissolving videos or you will be disappointed. They have results next day, with this you have to wait at least 3 weeks. I think as it’s everywhere in the tissue. I saw volume decrease but it’s still there after 2 sessions per area, so hard to say if it’s HA or fibrous tissue, nobody knows. Also my skin started to be more flexible and not so sturdy. I had before even like a crust in the surface and it was weirdly dry, that improved also with hylase

Thats a mad comment ? I have the same problem - the lower part of ny face is all saggy and puffy - I don’t know whether to try lymphatic drainage or something else it’s really horrible

After a year the Profhilo is still healing. It’s been quite a journey.
At the bottom of this review is the link to a paper from 2018 that proves that Profhilo creates longer term volume in the skin.
For all of the ladies out there who were told that it does not change the shape of the face, and does not create volume, this paper was published in 2018, so there are no excuses for injectors to claim that this product is just an injectable moisturiser.
I specifically asked my provider, a specialist plastic surgeon, if the product creates volume, and I was told no. Perhaps he didn’t know about the product he was using, or perhaps he lied.
For someone who wants volume in the skin, hey, it can last over a year with just one session!
For everyone with great results, HA can cause hypersensitivity at any time, and with every new injection. HA fillers are now known to block the lymph system, and they do not significantly degrade in the body. Good luck!

I'm 8 months post injections. Still my face hasn't gotten back to normal. I'm considering getting an ultrasound on my face to see where the profhilo is lingering and then getting hyalase.
