Made Face Puffy / Jowls - but my Skin Was Sort of 'Dewy'
Got first dose in October 2023, and second in Novemer 2023. Went to a really good place and have no complaints about their abilities / service, however, as this is a new treatment I suppose we are all kind of guinea pigs. It didn't work for my face shape / anatomy / age. I am still young and it was sold to me as a better alternative to skin needling - I just wanted a skin pick-me-up postpartum. I should've just gotten a hydrafacial or something, but wanted to treat myself and thought this would be better.
The first dose was fine, however, after the second dose my face ballooned and it created the appearance of jowls. It did, however, appear 'dewy'/glowy. But it was not worth the trade off!
Ultimately I do not think I was a good candidate. Although profhilo is not cross-linked, it definitely changes your face shape. Maybe people with slightly sunken faces or older skin might benefit from this more.
I would not recommend to anyone though. I feel like there's better treatments out there, no matter the skin type / age.
It was really distressing for me to experience the puffiness and jowls and be in the dark about whether it would ever go away. I felt like it was my punishment for my vanity. But none of us should ever feel like that.
I don't think it's fair to sell this as an alternative to exterior skincare/treatments/facials. I note it's marketed as skincare but for underneath your skin. It's not - it is more akin to filler. However, 7 months post second treatment, it is finally starting to fade - consisent with them recommending top ups every 6 months. I'm just glad I can start to put this behind me!
Don't take the risk with this one.
