Made Face Puffy / Jowls - but my Skin Was Sort of 'Dewy'

Loving14481
Got first dose in October 2023, and second in Novemer 2023. Went to a really good place and have no complaints about their abilities / service, however, as this is a new treatment I suppose we are all kind of guinea pigs. It didn't work for my face shape / anatomy / age. I am still young and it was sold to me as a better alternative to skin needling - I just wanted a skin pick-me-up postpartum. I should've just gotten a hydrafacial or something, but wanted to treat myself and thought this would be better.

The first dose was fine, however, after the second dose my face ballooned and it created the appearance of jowls. It did, however, appear 'dewy'/glowy. But it was not worth the trade off!

Ultimately I do not think I was a good candidate. Although profhilo is not cross-linked, it definitely changes your face shape. Maybe people with slightly sunken faces or older skin might benefit from this more.
I would not recommend to anyone though. I feel like there's better treatments out there, no matter the skin type / age.
It was really distressing for me to experience the puffiness and jowls and be in the dark about whether it would ever go away. I felt like it was my punishment for my vanity. But none of us should ever feel like that.

I don't think it's fair to sell this as an alternative to exterior skincare/treatments/facials. I note it's marketed as skincare but for underneath your skin. It's not - it is more akin to filler. However, 7 months post second treatment, it is finally starting to fade - consisent with them recommending top ups every 6 months. I'm just glad I can start to put this behind me!

Don't take the risk with this one.

I’m just few weeks after 1st treatment and I have the same, volume in cheeks and lower face, burning skin, swollen mouth, considering to dissolve it

Is there any real way to dissolve it though? I was looking at hylauranaise but that seems to have even more negative reviews than profhilo, so was just going to wait for it to dissolve overall

Same here, I’m at 6 weeks post the second treatment though, my first one didn’t have the same effects though- or at least I didn’t notice them!

@loving14481, how much of it has dissolved 7 months afterwards? Are you at least halfway thru to normal? I’m trying Guasha and sauna treatments to dissolve it faster.

I found some people who said that they had deposits seen on USG and I found others who said they dissolved it where they had bumps, but tbh there’s no clear answer

Sorry what do you mean by deposits seen on USG? New to that term

It was seen on ultrasound that they had pockets of HA

Hey there thanks for this review. I feel like it tracks exactly with my experience. I am now at the 3 month mark after my second treatment, and jaw/jowl area looks much wider and bulkier than before. I'm curious... You didn't post a before picture. Would you say your face is returning to more or less its original proportions/shape? Or are there irregularities that weren't there prior?
