Ive been thinking about getting my ears pinned back for 30 years and more ,as they stick out a lot, every now and again id look into it and get prices but always chicken out at the last minute. Then I discovered The Aurora clinic and Doctor Adrian Richards on You Tube. I did plenty of research on him and found everybody saying positive things about his work as a surgeon. I booked an appointment with him around sept 2014 in Harley Street and was very happy with him, I really felt I could trust him. The next step was booking the operation which I did for 3rd Dec in Buckinghamshire, I did a lot of soul searching trying to talk myself out of it , even though id payed up front. The Aurora clinic is about 3 hours from my home so drove myself there with time to spare , my appointment was for 11am. Parked in Tesco nearby arriving at the clinic for 10.45am feeling really nervous , was met by warm smiles and friendly staff and had a coffee. Had some pics taken then met Dr Richards again and let him video the operation , was given a local anaesthetic in both ears which was painless , the nurse held my hand . She could sense I was scared , well I had been dreaming about this operation all my life, as long as I can remember Ive wanted my ears pinned back and I will never forget this point in my life , it was at true milestone for me.
Dr Adrian asked what kind of music I liked and I told him I liked Elvis so that was the music I had in the background. I dont think there was ever a quiet moment Dr Adrian talked and asked me questions and made some jokes , the nurses talked and joked . The hour flew by with not even a bit of pain , infact I had been a lot more uncomfortable 3 days before at the dentist and in more pain then. After the operation I had the bandage put on and I left on a high . I felt really great , it was such a lovely experience , I got in my car and drove home the 140 miles or so. I wanted to wash my hair when I got in to get rid of any blood ,so took the bandage off and managed it with out too much fuss, my ears were glued to my head and I just made sure they never got the too wet . They were still numb anyway and I took painkillers every few hours after just too make sure i would not feel any pain. I kept putting the bandage on when I slept and taking it off in the morning to have a shower. My first night was a bit uncomfortable because I didnt know the best way to sleep without laying on my ears but there was no pain. My ears were purple with bruising and looked worse than they were, I have long hair so no one noticed them , I never felt any pain at all in the healing process , I bandaged them at night to sleep and did that for at least six weeks to be on the safe side. I was given some type of surgical hood to wear at night but liked the bandage better. I went back to work in around 8 days but felt I could have returned to work a lot sooner . My ears were completely healed in around 8 weeks id say and id forgotten that they had ever stuck out and looked like bats ears. I did some tv work last year 2014 and most of the stuff got shown in January and February inc a tv commercial and all I can see is my old ears , to me they notice that much and of course everything was filmed in HD. Im over the moon with my ears now , its given me more confidence too , and I cant thank Dr Richards enough. Id highly recommend him to everyone and if anyone ever thought about having there ears pinned back to just do it , Im well pleased. I never went back like some people to have bandages removed because i live a long way away , but the offer was there.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful experience. Your story gives me the courage to follow through with what I've dreamed about having done my whole life. How was the actual procedure, did you feel any sort of discomfort? I'm very nervous!

I didn't feel any discomfort at all , infact nothing. Id say it was completely pain less , it was weird really because the thought of having it done was worse than the op. It was all over in under an hour and that was in and out. I was in more pain the week before at the dentist having 2 fillings.
