I have always had large breasts for my frame, and wore a 36C bra from my late teens, which was large for the early 1970s. In those days the only bras available for larger breasts were unattractive, reinforced styles. I remember the difficulty in finding swimwear for my 36/24/36 figure and have never felt comfortable wearing a bikini in public. Anyway, I lived with them, but when I hit the menopause in my early 50s, they suddenly increased in size. I tried HRT patches for a year but gave up as they made my breasts even larger. I am 5'4" and weigh under 10 stone, but my breasts increased to a 36G. Naturally, they were sagging and I found that I was had increasing neck and shoulder pain due to the constant weight on my shoulders from the straps. I tried underwired bras, but these dug into my ribs and gave me a rash under the breasts in Summer. I enjoy wearing nice clothes but found that I had to buy a size too large to accommodate my chest, which made me look very 'matronly'. I was apprehensive about having what I regarded as unnecessary surgery at the age of 60, but I am so glad that I did. I have recovered far quicker than I expected, and started driving (an automatic car) again after a week. I feel great, but am being very good about not lifting or carrying too much as instructed.
I have experienced only mild discomfort and only took pain killers for a few days. I opted for a three night stay in hospital due to my age, which increased the price, but I feel that the reassurance it gave me was worth it. The main reason for surgery was to reduce the neck and shoulder pain, and I immediately felt lighter and now automatically stand upright with my shoulders back. But I hadn't expect to LOOK so much better! I had approximately 3lbs removed from my breasts, but look as though I have lost a stone! I am thrilled with my appearance, and keep trying on different clothes to admire the results. My only regret is that I took so long to decide to go ahead. Was it worth it? Absolutely!

Progress Report

12 days after my op and I am almost back to a normal life, apart from avoiding lifting anything heavy. I have been shopping several times (mainly to avoid carrying too much) and did some gentle gardening this afternoon. The tapes are starting to itch and I get occasional stabbing pains in the breasts, but not bad enough to need pain relief. Looking forward to having the tapes changed on Tuesday.
Welcome and thank you for sharing your experience with the community. I am so happy for you and glad that you love the results. Having the 3 pounds removed from the chest us big. You never realize how heavy it was until it's gone.
This is definitely a life changing experience, I am so happy for you.
