I had consulted with 4 doctors over the course of 2 years for my primary rhinoplasty. I chose Dr. Hyman for several reasons.
Firstly, his demeanor: Dr. Hyman was laid-back, confident (but not arrogant), and very genuine during my consultation. He was honest, expressed some concerns about my narrow nose and the potential for breathing issues post op. He also did not speak in absolutes ("I never do xyz" or "I always do this") like the other surgeons I had consulted with. His approach was more of a "if you need it, I can do it." I just trusted that he really knew what he was doing.
Second, his work is consistent. His aesthetic was very much aligned with I wanted. This part was easy for me.
Third, his price point for his skillset was reasonable. I have a feeling his rate will increase as he continues to establish his practice. Not many surgeons can do what he's capable of - he is truly talented.
Lastly, his personal artwork. This one might sound weird, but to me it spoke volumes about his ability as a facial plastic surgeon. I was both impressed by his portraits and reassured that he had the artistic talent to deliver a great rhinoplasty result.
I'm currently 7 weeks post op from my septorhinoplasty with fascia grafting (taken from behind my ear; I had thin skin), and while the lower 1/3 of my nose is still swollen, I am loving my result. My nose is straight, feminine but not overly rotated, and my profile is perfect. It is exactly what I wanted. I asked him to preserve some of my middle eastern ethnicity and he did. I feel like I still look like myself, just more balanced.
His staff was vey thorough, friendly, and communicative a well. As were the nurses, surgical techs, and the anesthesiologist. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Hyman to anyone considering a primary rhinoplasty or revision.
