1 year and 1 month since procedure

Its been over a year since I had the procedure and I must say I am still happy with the results. Honestly I havent held up my end of the bargain as I shouldve. I find myself still trying to get rid of those last 10-15lbs. Mind you.. this has been my goal since Jan. I will tell you... discipline is an ongoing journey. Something I did has helped me at least maintain... it was donating those larger sized clothes. As soon as the jeans and work pants get too tight.. I adjust my eating and the weight typically comes back off. Still.. those last pounds.. that one more dress size, I have to reach my goal or I feel like it was all a waste. Documenting in here and some wellness groups is helping me and giving me the kickstart I need when I fall off and need a jolt to get back on tract. Its a process, and a lifestyle change, I figure the only way to fail is to stop trying

May 2013- Almost one year!

Well! Im maintaining so thats good. Im still trying to lose that last 10lbs. I typically do a lot of "clean eating" during the week where i can monitor my food better since im at work. On the weekends I treat myself. Having that balance is allowing me to maintain my weight however I havent worked out at the frequency I was doing. Its turned into me doing one major activity in monthly. Clearly no consistency. Im making some changes to get to the goal by the 1 year anniversary. Ive added a dance class on Wed, work out with my friend on Thursday, something with my spouse over the weekend. Im sure these last 10lbs would melt away in a flash. This whole process has been very eye opening to me. I appreciate what Dr Boutte has done and do NOT regret my choice to get this procedure in any way. I think the true revelation for me is that, had I stayed diligent, I couldve accomplished this loss without the procedure. Sometimes I think its a fear of committing to becoming a success. This experience at this age has been life changing in a great way. I invested in this and Dr. Boutte cant do it all. I have to be active in this journey. I have one more post to go. The Annual reveal. Looking forward to it!

7 months post op...

Its been awhile since ive posted. Mainly because I fell off my diet, stopped wearing the body magic, and wasnt taking care of myself as I should have. I started gaining the weight back. I was embarrassed and disappointed. I didnt even want to go to my final check up to hear the numbers so I reschedule my final appointment to January with hopes to get the weight off before Dr. Boutte saw me. Clearly that doesnt work when your drinking beer every other day (Boo you sports venues!!!) As disappointing as I was, the ladies at Premiere Dermatology were so encouraging to me. They told me this was a journey and the first step was recognizing where i went wrong (eating lemon pepper wings and beer) and what I needed to get back on the right track. The decision to stop wearing the body magic was based on it digging in my skin. I have slight scoliosis and that contraption didnt agree with my right side. It actually dug so far in my skin that it was beyond the first layer of my epidermis. I would wear it to work and by 11am I would have to close my office door and take it off because of the pain. Dr. Boutte suggested a different compression garment that does not have the spining that Im going to use instead. Since my appointment, I have gotten back on a healthy diet. No fried food, tons of water, watching my sodium and the weight I gained is coming back off. I now eat 5-6 times a day 300-400 calorie meals, lean proteins and lots of veggies. I do have a cocktail from time to time but have broken up with beer and have a distant relationship with sweets. I have not been exercising since the first of the year, however the change in my eating habits has really helped get some of this fat off. I do notice a little flap of skin on my lower abdomen right side. Im hoping when my new compression garment arrives, that will go away. All I can say is that... its hard work and if you fall down, just get back up. Ill be checking in again soon.
