I had a facelift with neck lift and muscle...
I had a facelift with neck lift and muscle tightening at PPSI in Thailand with Dr Poonsak in September 2016. Surgery was meant to last 6 -7 hours but it ended up taking twice as long for reasons that were never explained to me except to say that I had "complicated nerves". When I woke up in the recovery ward I was told my surgery went for 14 hours but given no explanation and I also could not feel my lower leg as I had a machine attached to prevent thrombosis. I was crying and begging to speak to someone but the nurses just ignored me and said to wait until I saw the doctor 6 hours later. I ended up with "drop foot" from nerve compression and had to have 2 weeks of therapy so that I could walk again. This did correct itself but the nerves in my face are still damaged . By this I mean I have constant (never goes away) tingling over my face and neck, sometimes I get strong tightening sensations like I am wearing a compression bandage. I was warned at the initial interview that I may experience numbness but not this. PPSI response is to take Vitamin B and have massages. They take no responsibility and have said it is sometimes a side effect from surgery. I want you to imagine how you would like to spend the rest of your life with constant pins and needles in your face and a feeling of being choked. I am seeing my doctor in Perth who has put me on medication which may help but three weeks into treatment I can feel no change but hoping that eventually I might get results. PPSI have ignored many of my emails, I don't think Dr Poonsak even has a very good understanding of reading English because when I wrote to him about the nerve damage he wanted to see photos and when I submitted them he said he could see I might need revision surgery as still some laxity in the neck and no comment on the nerve damage. I would NEVER recommend travelling for surgery as if you do not complications, they are not there for you. I was 54 at the time, I am a fitness instructor so I was fit and healthy and was just looking for a "refreshed" look as I did not have major lines or sagging. Nobody has even noticed that I have had work done and as Dr Poonsak noted ,the neck lift was not entirely successful but under no circumstances would I have unnecessary surgery again. If anyone has any suggestions if anything can be done I would be very grateful.

Dr. Poonsak
Dr Poonsak is a poor communicator. If I got a response it was usually a one or two sentence line that was sometimes irrelevant to my question.
