Something came over me at my 45th birthday, I decided to do things that make me happy. I am 163 lbs. and 5'6". I had been thinking about a breast augmentation for many years. I had a breast biopsy many years ago which resulted in one breast smaller than the other. The lump that was removed was benign and the rest is history. The two sizes of my breast really were not the concern. I have always wanted cleavage. There were always outfits that I could not wear. I always wanted breasts just did not have the guts to follow through with the procedure. So, once I made the decision to move forward, the opportunity presented itself with the doctor that I desired to perform my procedure. I am so excited.
It is the eve before my surgery and I am a little bit nervous. I feel mentally prepared for the procedure. I have been working out, eating good food and getting plenty rest. I picked up a few outfits. I filled the prescriptions and need to pick up some saltines.
I was getting concerned about my children. My husband said that he wants me to focus on a successful surgery and a great recovery. He also said, "The children will be fine, they can figure it out." Our children are teenagers.
When I scheduled the surgery, a newfound confidence came over me. I really cannot describe it. Confidence has really never been an issue for me but there is something special about how I feel. I can only imagine how I will feel after the surgery. I am really looking forward to it. Stay tuned.

As long as your teenagers know you'll be fine but that you might need some help during your recovery, they should be good! Hope your surgery goes well today. Glad you can do this for yourself. Update us soon on the type and size implants you got!

Good luck, can't wait to follow your progress! I am also 45 and have always been so small chested, 34A. I have my BA scheduled for June 3, 2015 if my mammogram results turn out okay. I'm so excited but terrified at the same time. I will have only 4 days off before I have to return to my desk job and I'm hoping I will be able to handle it because I can't miss any work. I've had two kids, a 21 year old son and a 10 year old daughter, so I should be able to get thru this. Oh and I'm going back and forth between 350cc or 390cc, saline moderate plus under the muscle.

Hi JMartin32, my recovery is going pretty well. I even drove to drop off my daughter for work. My husband was in the car and it is right around the corner from our home. I did not take any of the meds earlier that day prior to driving and I had a lot of mobility from the surgery. From what I understand, me winding down the pain meds as well as the others is not the norm. I have a high threshold for pain and was relatively healthy prior to the surgey. Prior to the surgery, I had stopped drinking my normal one or two glasses of wine per week. I was exercising everyday prior to my surgery. My mammogram was good and the medical clearance bloodwork and EKG were good. I actually took it easy prior to the surgery. No one mentioned that but I gave myself a "little break" in the evenings and weekend. Went to bed a little earlier than normal during the week and tried to rest as much as possible a couple of weekends before the surgery. I am pretty active in my church, so I did not serve. My husband handled the trips tothe ball field the weekend before my surgery. My kids made sure that I did not over do it. What was not cleaned or washed or picked up in our home was just not done. We all survived. My family made their own breakfast, lunch, dinner or whatever. My daughter that works got rides to work. I rested a fair amount from Monday (the day of my surgery) to Wednesday afternoon. Thursday and Friday, I felt considerably better. Still pretty sore and felt random sharp pains on the smaller breast (pre-op). With all that, I am not going overboard with activity, avoiding stress, trying my best to eat healthy foods, doing minor exercise (walked our dog) around the neighborhood and resting when I feel the need to do so. I watered my garden and flower beds on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. On your planned leave, I want to encourage you to stay focused with your intention of getting functional for work within 4 days. YOU CAN DO IT!!! Besides, it might be good to be at work with focus only on doing your best while at work, staying low keyed (if you can afford to just work, eat lunch and go home----just depends on the demands of your career and your place of work ---hopefully you can do that for about a week). I believe that anyone can accomplish anything, if they put their mind to it, stay focused on their intentions and push all distractions, noise and interruptions aside. I will be sending you love and light. I hope nothing but the best for you. I believe that we need to do what it takes to make us happy. I will upload some pictures of me post-op. Take care. Thanks for the reply. I am so glad to be able to share my experience and to learn from other women, too. ;-)

Had Post-Op appointment today

Went to my post-op appointment today and was fitted for the breast band to help push my breasts down into a more natural position. I have been suffering from a bad case of constipation. For a few days, I looked 3 - 4 months pregnant. So, I have been treating that with suppositories and about 2 tbs of apple cider vinegar (YUCK!!!). Anywho, with all of that, I am very happy with my progress thus far. I am truly blessed. I purchased Bacitracin for my stitches and my doctor advised me to apply it on top of the steri strips (everyday) until they become unglued -- so that I can pulled them off. The nurse recommended that I put gauze over the ointment to mitigate direct contact with the ointment and my bra. She also showed me the breast massage exercises that I should do, a couple times a day, once my stitches have had a few more weeks to heal. Probably 2 more weeks. Scheduled the 6 week post op appointment.

One thing I want to remind others of, be sure to get the serial numbers for your breast implants. Most manufacturers provide a warranty but there is typically a limited time frame to activate it. For example, the manufacturer of the implants used in my procedure gives the individual 60 days from surgery to get the information in to them. I was given a card with the serial numbers of my implants today. Just remember to ask for that information, it is of utter importance. My nurse advised me to keep this card in my wallet should I require or need medical attention or if they rupture. I put the card in my wallet immediately.

My back hurts REALLY bad. I think I saw another profile with that symptom. I will check it out and perhaps call my doctor.

I would not change my decision. There is always sacrifice or an opprtunity cost for things that one wants in life. These stages are a part of my journey. :-) I am still so very blessed.

You're looking amazing! Glad to hear you don't regret it as my BA is scheduled for next Wednesday. Gosh I worry about my back hurting too, it always does if I'm stationary for too long. I know my sleeping is going to be so aggravating for me because I'm a big time stomach sleeper. Wishing you the best and a speedy recovery!

Great advice on getting the serial numbers from your implants and activating the warranty. I bet many women forget to do this. The back pain is really common. I have heard some women say they find relief with one or two nights using a muscle relaxer prescribed by their doctor. You might almost be over the hump though. Sometimes the back pain is worse than the boob pain. Thanks for your updates!

I keep forgetting to add this info in with my updates. I have moderate profile, 375 CC, silicone implants by Mentor. From what I understand, these implants will make me a full C.
