WORTH IT
I am a 26 year old Female and I had my FUT with Dr Edward Ball just over two months ago. It is my second FUT but first with Dr Edward Ball. The procedure was to lower my hair line which has always been high, the first surgery I had with a different clinic I was unhappy with the results as it left me with a sparse and unnatural hairline. Dr Edward Ball always stood out for me and I did want him to do my first procedure but I was naive and let another clinic sales pitch talk me into getting it done with them. For the second time I knew to go with my gut and I do not regret it.
The experience from start to finish with the Maitland Clinic has been fantastic. The consultation was very in depth, it did not feel like a sales pitch or that they were trying to sell me some unrealistic results. After meeting with David Anderson and Dr Ball for the consultation i knew 100% I wanted to book with them. The lead up to the surgery the Matiand Clinic kept in contact and gave me all the information I needed. The morning of surgery everyone at the clinic was amazing and put me at such ease. Dr Ball spent a decent amount of time perfecting my hairline and then I went in for the procedure. The numbing is the most painful part of the day, and it really isn't that bad. Defiantly take advantage of all the free chocolates and movies. On the day Dr Ball, Janna Shafer and the rest of the team were so friendly and professional I couldn't fault them. The first evening isn't exactly great, I slept in a recliner chair with a neck pillow and managed to get a few hours sleep. Defiantly have a decent breakfast the next morning, I was sick the next day but that was due to not eating properly. For the after care just stick with it, it might seem bit of a pain at the time but totally worth it and it before you know it your back to normal life. Janna was great organising my stitch removal, I moved to Canada just a week after the procedure so she organised for my stitch removal in Canada and stayed in contact with me after to check how it all went. It is still early doors and I wont know the full results for a while however I am feeling a lot more confident after this procedure.
Overall the Dr Ball and whole team at Maitland have been awesome and I cannot thank them enough. Genuinely friendly and caring people who are amazing at what they do. I cant wait for the months to come to see the results.
THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU!

hey. thank you for your post. would you be kind enough to upload or send over a picture of your current result? i share a very similar story to yours, if not the same. i am a 26 year old who underwent a FUE hair transplant with a surgeon that left my hairline looking horrible and unnatural (just a straight line of hair) and as a result totally regretted having the procedure done. 3 years later (after a massive knock on my self esteem) i have been researching surgeons that can perhaps help give me my natural look back and so i am open to going for a second hair transplant procedure with the RIGHT surgeon this time and fingers crossed it could be Dr Ball? I would really really appreciate if you could show a picture of your result as you're the only person i've come across who is female that underwent a botched hair transplant procedure and having had it now fixed. I am glad everything has worked out for you in the end!
I had made an appointment with Dr Ball regarding a (hopefully) small hair transplant procedure to restore my "sideburn" hair that had been permanently lost after a facelift. However, a week or two before the appointment, I had noticed, to my alarm, a distinct, and seemingly sudden, patch of missing hair at the nape of my neck. A lot of googling suggested alopecia areata. This diagnosis was confirmed by a hastily-arranged appointment at a well-known London hair loss clinic, earlier on the same afternoon I was due to see Dr Ball. They wanted me to sign up to an expensive programme of high-strength minoxidil and other treatments.
I was tempted (in desperation), as this was just a few days before before Christmas, and I was terrified that all my hair was going to fall out. It was a Friday, and as I made my way through London's festive streets filled with happy people, I arrived at Dr Ball's (then) clinic in Hammersmith feeling utterly distressed, hopeless and tearful.
Dr Ball was so welcoming, kind and sympathetic. The consultation was free, but he spent a long time with me, despite the fact that he was clearly busy. He examined my hair and scalp, confirming that there was indeed a patch of alopecia areata. He explained the condition to me, very calmly, so that I felt a wave of relief wash over me. He suggested that I make an appointment with one of two recommended dermatologists specialising in hair loss, and in the meantime go to the nearest chemist and buy some generic minoxidil which, although not proven to help with AA, might be of some benefit. He also gave me lots of other useful and reassuring advice.
When I had calmed down, he talked me through the options for the sideburn hair transplant (the original reason for the appointment). It almost goes without saying that, of course, there was no hard sell.
I emailed him later that evening to thank him, and he replied personally, and wished me well.
Thanks to him, I managed to get through the Christmas period without self-destructing. I remain eternally grateful - it is so heart-warming to know that there are decent medical people in the cosmetic-surgery world.
I have since been under the care of one of the dermatologists, who has administered steroid shots in my scalp, and monitored my progress over the past couple of years. The patch has filled in, and not spread, so, touch wood, is under control. I know it could recur and/or spread, but I'm trying to stay positive.
Back to Dr Ball - I have been following his results and reviews since he set up his clinic, and I'm really pleased to see that he and his team are well-regarded, as a skilful, experienced and ethical practice. I know that when I am ready to go ahead with my procedure, hopefully in the not too distant future, I will proceed with Dr Ball.
SJ - hope all goes well with your progress, and I hope you will keep your review updated. Would you mind saying how many grafts you had, and how long the FUT scar is (and how it is healing)?
I'm sorry to hear you had a previous bad experience with a different doctor - I can empathise, as I know the consequences of choosing the wrong surgeon.
So sorry to hear about your situation, hope everything works out well with you aswel.
It was just over 1900 and scar is 22cm by 1cm, healing really well. Honestly most of the time now I forget I've even had the surgery and wouldn't even notice the scar anymore.. if I look for it can see it but that's the benefit having long hair. Also I wear my hair in a way it covers my forehead (fair amount of hairspray) so nobody has ever noticed I've had it done.
Best of luck to you!
