Maintenance work in order

So, I've scheduled a lower face and neck lift. I so wish I could have it done by the wonderful Dr. Tom Wang here in Portland, OR. But, I just cannot afford it. I'm going to have to go down to Mexico to have CosMed Clinic, Dr. Quiroz, do it. A Thermage procedure was a total waste of money, and actually caused more sagging! You can see by my profile pic, that I do have the mid-life jowls. I'm hoping for the great results that I've seen on here, and with some of my family members who've had this done. Just worried about the down time, as I have a physical job, and I'm a baton twirler in two marching bands. I need to be able to move my head around without worrying about damaging anything. Can anyone tell me how long to expect for me to be able to have full range of motion? Thanks!

Gravity has taken its toll on my lower face and neck. Would love to have my Portland surgeon do it, but can't afford it. Researched and found a wonderful clinic in Tijuana, Mexico, with Dr. Alejandro Quiroz. They picked me up at San Diego airport and shuttled me easily through the borders to their clinic. First night was in their Recovery Boutique room where I stayed for the remaining days. The surgery went well, and their aftercare was superb. Brought me back to the airport on the 5th day. I'm home recovering.

My face is really swollen, and my neck is super tight. I can't hear very well, and I'm hoping I'll hear better when the swelling goes down. I'm not supposed to drive for 10 days post surgery. I'm not supposed to look up and down, side to side for 10 days too. I believe it'll feel normal in a year. Long time to wait. :(

Oh no! I have seen other commenters write that their ears swelled so much as to impair hearing. I hope someone with actual experience can answer for you. Thank you for posting your journey.

Not only from swelling, but I think I have blood crammed down it. I'm going to try to Debrox as soon as I can get someone to go get it for me. I can't drive for another week.

Okay, I'm beginning to freak out. One of the disadvantages in doing an out of the country surgery is that you can't call in easily. I'm having a concern that my GP advice nurse tells me that I need to go to an Urgent Care tonight. It got past the closing time by the time my ride got here (can't drive yet). And, I'm hoping that I can speak to the CosMed Clinic tomorrow morning. I see a strange (folded looking) skin behind my ear with what looks like a drain tube under my skin. I'm worried that it might be left in accidentally! It doesn't look the same on the other side. I'm getting red patches on my face and worried that I might be getting an infection or if redness is normal. But, mostly I'm worried about the odd suturing and the drain tube looking thing under my skin. Has anyone ever had this situation? If so, please tell me your outcome! I can hardly wait until tomorrow and hopefully they will call me as soon as they see my email.

What was that tube you saw. I know they put drains in on most, but they have bulbs to collect the fluid. I didn't have any, which is rare from what I see on here. But they do cause scaring, but longer recovery time. So I've read from other PS's. He said there was not much blood, maybe a teaspoon. Hard to believe. I saw at least a Tablespoon on my head dressing the next day.

How are you feeling today? Did you find out about the tube behind your ear?
February 3, 2017
Well, today is Day 9, and I still having swelling, bruising and tightness. It's getting better each day, but only slightly. Right now, I'm getting paranoid about the dark bruising on each side of my chin. I'm so scared it won't go away and I'll be left with purple skin! The "tube" was told to me to be actually fluid, and should dissipate. My doctor called me and told me to not look so closely at everything, or I'll go crazy with worry. He said to give my face a chance to go through the healing stage and to be more patient with my recovery process.

To make matters worse, last night, I bumped my forehead (the only spot on my face that wasn't swollen and bruised) on a shelf corner and gave myself a huge hematoma! All my friends were telling me to look for signs of a concussion as it was such a bad hit (it had also been cut and bleeding). I have such bad luck!
Anyway, here's the next morning, and I seem to still be alive and no concussion. Ha!

You already look amazing!! It takes time and bruising will go away. Everyone is different with bruising. Keep icing and rest your mind. All of this is normal stages. Just think in another week you will be at a better stage. Praying for you and a quicker restoration and healing ❤

Oh my so glad your have no concussion!!! Good luck is headed your way!!!!

The room you stayed at was beautiful, makes going through this that much nicer. I'm just now reading your adventure. It's very interesting. I am 63 and just had lower face lift and neck lift myself. I believe in maintaining too. I had my first FL at 48, just when things were starting. Like a little hooding in eyes and tiny droop under chin. This time around I had jowling that that turned my mouth corners down, along with banding in neck.

I should add to my comment I'm just 3 days post. Feeling better. Swollen and bruised neck. Wearing head and chin strap now. I'll be in for a while!!! Lol!!

I'm just not happy with the scars behind my ear. They are still bunched up. I'll be embarrassed when I get glasses, and the guy looks behind my ear to see if my glasses sit okay on my year. :( I'm also not happy with the hair in front of my ear (sideburn). One side is shorter than the other side.

Bumped my forehead
Maries46February 3, 2017
So, my luck, I gave myself a huge hematoma on the only non swollen, non bruised part of my head! I bumped my forehead on a shelf corner. My friends were all worried that it could've caused a concussion, and told me to seek medical care ASAP! Well, of course, since I can't drive yet, I didn't go. But, my non driving son did a pupil contraction check on me, and I was fine. Anyway, here's my misfortunate event while I'm recovering from face surgery.

Hi!
Yes, believe it or not, I've been using Arnica Montana pills; and Arnica cream! And it didn't seem to prevent bruising. I'm just flabbergasted when I see some photos of post necklifts on here where they've taken out their stitches on Day 5 and no bruising! I won't have my stitches removed until 2 weeks post surgery! And my bruising and swelling is so bad! I just don't get it when I see some ladies here with healing at 12 days, looking amazing! Thank you for letting me know that my bruises will eventually fade. Seems like forever. I just had to have someone drive me to the mall to buy Dermablend so that I don't shock people with my beaten-up look! I have to go back to tutoring kids, and I'm still bruised and swollen. I'm going to scare them! My guy friend called me "Bride of Godzilla"! :(

I'm bruising too, always do. I'm fair skinned. I've been taking my Arnica pellets also and my Arnica topical get. Maybe it just means we got good circulation?? Because when I exercise hard or have a hot shower I get bright pink!! Only on vigorous exercise..like biking uphill, or running.

Terrible mishap with the bump. Must have been frightening out of the Country and those things happening. Can't drive, no one speaking English. I'm glad your son is with you!!!
