I was finally able to get some okay "post" pictures. My stomach is definitely flatter! You can see there is a lot of brusing and I'm definately still experiencing sigificant swelling. I'm also still supposed to stand/ walk hunched over. All this to say I'm expecting that things will only get better from here! I'll post more pictures after the tape comes off and my belly button is reveled!

Well the hardest part is over. Even with all of the meditating and prepping I'd done my nerves were on edge yesterday when I walked in to the Bensimon Center. Fortunately the staff was as calming and reassuring as always. The anestegiolist was awesome. Got my iv line in no problem and got me settled. Dr Bensimon was the perfect mix of calm and funny, taking the edge off of the fear without making light of my concerns. The procedure was long... there was a lot to do and Dr Bensimon took the time to do it right. Waking up was actually not bad all. It felt pretty much the same as waki g up to a kiddo crying in the night when I was in a deep sleep. I woke up gradually feeling no pain or discomfort, almost rested even. The nurses were attentive and kind and got me ready to go. They wheeled me down to the car. I was nervous about the flight of stairs to get to my bedroom, but it wasn't a problem at all. I had a great night's sleep and still felt no pain well into the morning. Dr. Bensimon used an injectable pain medication directly into the muscle right before he sewed me up... i highly recommend this if your surgeon offers it. Truly I have had no pain at all. I started taking oxy and advil to get ahead of the pain and have walked around "like a little old lady- per Drs orders) already this morning. I've felt just a smidge of pain getting back into bed after my walk but still very minimal. I don't have drains, Dr Bensimon used a quilting technique with eliminates the need for drains. I have had some fluid leakage (soaked up with sterile pads under my binder). So far I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I haven't been able to really see what's happening in my stomach area, I'm still very swollen. I'll try to post pics tomorrow. For now I'm going to just enjoy this oxy filled respite from life!

Well today is the day... I'm a bundle of emotions, mostly excited but certainly with some fear mixed in. Mostly for the kids and their adjustment to me being out of commission for a while. Fingers crossed and prayers said! Heres some last before pics...

Your husband will have to run defense to keep the kids off. Pillows are helpful too. Create a barrier but give lots of hugs and kisses on your terms.

We've been doing mommy visits. I wrote a little book for them ahead of time and have been reading it the past few days. It explained that mommy's tummy was uncomfortable so the Dr was going to fix it. And that mommy would have to stay in bed for a while and get lots of hand hugs and kisses. My mom us coming to help too, so they're all excited to see grandma. They've done really well so far. We'll see as time goes on ...the pillow barrier is a good idea!
