I got 1cc mostly to my top lip and a tiny bit on bottom. A first I was really concerned how big it was! The swelling on myself was quite intense, and only a sight pin prick of a bruise on my left top lip in the very corner. It's been a week and a half now and finally it's looking normal. I have a feeling I just had a harder time than usual. I saw dr. Holly in portage mi at Great Lakes plastic and hand surgery. He was so nice. I'm a tad young at 26 but he was judgement free and only made a small quip at the start of my appt which of course was a nice ice breaker. I do have to say a week in I made a consult because I was crying every time I saw myself in the mirror. My top lip was huge in comparison to my bottom and I felt like I had duck lips. I also had what I deemed as a fat mustache shadow. It looked just like you imagine. And I was horrified. At my appt he showed me how to massage my lip and voila 2 messaging sessions later and my lip look so frickin good. I can wear lipstick like a champ and I feel so good when I look on the mirror. I do feel my top lip is still and little too large in comparison but I'll be going back in another two weeks to even it out. Luckily I'm handy with make up and will just over line my lips for now. So happy and it is something I'm going to be maintained for here on out!

You look so pretty, thank you for sharing your experience and your pics! How would you describe how you massage your lip? Is it a smoothing motion or do you press on it to shape it?
July 4, 2016
It's more of a pressing and rubbing in large circles motion.

I have read the proper proportions for lips is 60% on the bottom, and 40% on the top. I don't know what size lips you started out with, but that is supposed to be the final result.
Quite recently I went in for a lip filler using Restylane. I took photographs of myself in my younger days to show the doctor what my lips were like when I was youthful and pretty (lips lose volume as you age and sometimes get quite thin). Unfortunately I had a light cut right over the Vermillion Border on the upper lip, so he only could do the bottom one. The first few days my bottom lip looked fuller and felt creepy---but now it looks like I am almost back where I started.
What I am really trying to get rid of, for many years now, are the Nasolabial Folds around my mouth. I have learned the hard way that direct injection of the folds doesn't help much due to loss of facial fullness in the cheek area. The newest thinking on that is that it is better to use a dermal filler if you have hollow cheek area which is supposed to raise that up. Well, it must take a lot of filler because I tried that last year and my cheeks looked just the same. Apparently I am not getting anywhere. Nobody has ever said that I look different, or better, or younger, after all this trying.

I can relate to what you are saying and your proportions are correct. Gosh I love it when someone uses the correct terminology and understands proportions. Grin. I have the same nasolabial problems. My doc explained that filling them wasn't the answer so I had Bellafil in my cheeks. Essentially the thinking is that filling up what we lose (or what drops) through the years will lift up those nasolabial folds. My folds appear almost the same but my face is fuller. I'm very thin so I think I need more filler than expected. Like you, nobody noticed except my husband, who, by the way, already knew I was going in for the procedures. I had a bit of filler in my lips but nothing really noticeable. I spent much more than anticipated (over 5K) and can hardly tell a difference. Best of luck to you, Mairzie!

Beautiful! I saved your before/after as my inspiration for my consultation next week.

Best of luck! Just remember to ice as much as possible, only use Motrin, and that it takes up to three weeks for things to settle down! I'm in love with mine but I was so freaked out at first.
