Plasma Pen for Fine Lines Under Eyes

This has been an awful experience for me. My healing has not been like the pictures and videos I've seen online. It is very new here in the USA. Please do your research and seek out someone who has done many. Everyone's skin heals/ reacts differently and treatment can cause post inflammatory hyperpigmentation/ post inflammatory erythema. Make sure your technician uses an FDA cleared pen. Even with that, the procedure can be done too intense. It's possible to have heat too high ( depending on the pen used) , or just leave it in the spot for too long. Dots can be placed too close together which is more intense and more likely to cause more trauma to area. It was VERY painful. Felt like a candle was burning me. I have been told by others in the industry it should not be that painful, but my technician said that it can. I have been told this is not normal, something went wrong, but have been told by technician that nothing was done wrong. I have been left with dots/ as opposed to just redness. It does seem to be fading at 4 1/2 weeks but has been very stressful.

Plasma pen damage
dilane67April 5, 2019
I am about 9 weeks out and still have some redness/spots. Sometimes they look better than others. After washing my face it looks more red. I am able to cover this up with make up and it has healed quite a bit but is not totally gone.

Well for what it's worth, I think you look great. I hope that it completely heals for you.
It sounds as though only minimal training is required in order to perform the procedure...which is disturbing.
Keep us updated on your progress.

Thanks so much! The scary thing is you can buy a pen on amazon and have no training! I live in Phoenix, and I spoke to my sister's esthetician who spent over $20,000 on her training in the past year. I also have been in contact with another esthetician who lives in Florida who is also a trainer in the procedure. Both said you need many months of practice before performing this procedure and it can cause serious damage. They were horrified at my face and her lack of skill/practice in the procedure. The person who performed mine owns a med spa and is an RN. She took one class and then started charging clients the same week- Took no responsibility and denied any wrong doing. Her pen was FDA cleared and was Louise Walsh International pen which is supposed to be really good. I have spent about 100 hours of my time researching and contacting different people in the industry after she damaged my skin. I'm just glad it's healed as well as it has so far :)

Horrible treatment, I’m left with pigmentation and dented skin. Had mine done over 5 months ago no difference to my lines. Going to start bioskin las next month

I'm so sorry-- have you consulted with a dermatologist or esthetician? I don't have any difference in lines either because there is a technique and I was not only burned but she didn't do it properly either. My skin had holes but that seems to have cleared up. The medical device rep brought me a growth factor serum to use on it. It's called Factor 5, but is expensive. About $200 for the bottle. The device rep consulted with a master trainer who told me what products to use to promote healing. I also contacted another trainer in the procedure who put together a skin care regime. Good Luck

Dermatologist, I’ve been offered no advice at all from the lady who did mine, would I be wrong in asking her to Compensate me for the damage she caused? I asked how many treatments she done before mine , still waiting on a reply as she said she was unsure it’s going to cost me 50 pounds per treatment needing one a week. So unfair.

Oh you have every right to ask for compensation. I disputed my charge for the procedure itself on the credit card and they did refund the amount before the person who did mine decided she's give me the money back. It was $600. I bombarded her with e mails etc after doing a lot of research and getting opinions etc from other professionals that she damaged my skin. I do not know the recourses you have. I assume you are in the UK? I had thought about getting an attorney, but that gets quite expensive. We have something called small claims court where you can take the person to court to pay for damages. I found that the person who did mine, said she'd want to do further treatments on me and I said no way. Don't want her touching me. Right now I am just using high quality skin care products which I paid for on my own. These things get expensive. I'm so sorry. I know how you feel and it is very unfair

11 1/2 weeks after treatment
dilane67April 26, 2019
I am 11 1 /2 weeks out. Much better but still darkness, erythema under eyes. Depending on the time of day it looks redder or lighter. More red after washing my face due to capillaries. I am using some great products including growth factor serum, vitamin c serum, hydroquinone and SPF which have helped. There was so much damage and trauma to my skin, I'm happy it's lightened up as much as it has

I hope the negative aspects all resolve! That said - do you feel the fine lines have actually improved, or was there no benefit from doing this procedure?
July 8, 2019
Thank you so much! Unfortunately, I don't have the results I was looking for.... maybe minor improvement in the fine lines... In order for the procedure to have results, it's important that the technician places the " dots" properly- There is an actual technique that needs to be followed in order to see results. She kind of randomly placed the "dots" and wasn't skilled.

Ugh! It's so scary how often cosmetic procedures fail or have significant side effects. I have had a few problems, too, and it's so upsetting. I'm sorry to hear there wasn't much improvement. Have the dots resolved and faded out now?

Yes I’m happy to say that all dots are gone. It took about 5 months to go away but thankful I healed fine

hi, I have the exact same problem as you do! I am exactly 11 weeks post op today and I am also using vitamin C serum. The only good result I got was a definite tightening of my under eye: it used to be as loose as chewing gum (I am only 29) due to a complete lack of basic care and massive, unprotected sun exposure. So I think that this has improved. But I am very red/brown, so I look even much older now. I had also my upper eyelids and nasolabial folds done with plasma pen. Upper eyelids have recovered (but with minimum effect) and my folds are still quite red. I know that some dermatologists do not do the under eye because they consider it to be a risky area, so it could be that it is just a bad idea due to the thinness of the skin. The woman who performed the plasma pen procedure told be at around week 8 that it was very good news that my skin was still red: it was a sign that my skin was still reacting, so still tightening. I believe that she lied and wouldn't acknowledge that she messed it up. I hope that your situation has improved....Thankk you for posting!!

Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear this I know how upsetting it all is not knowing if it will get better. But I’m happy to say after 5 months I fully healed. I had no results but at that point I didn’t really care.
