Ok, I've committed to lip reduction surgery on upper and lower lips. I feel confident in the surgeon I have chosen, but am still nervous about the recovery. Anyone who has been there and can give me any tips or words of wisdom? The reviews here are so helpful and I plan to add photos and a description of my recovery as well.

I think your lips look good. They are slightly uneven. My lips are artefill and silicone. Cortisone injections can even out your lips and reduce the size. I have done them and it is cheap.

Your facelift looks good. Very pulled back and no nasolabial fold. Did you have a nasolabial fold before surgery? Who did the second facelift?

no I never had the NL folds. Just my anatomy. My 2nd FL was done by Dr Michael Fasching.

cortisone is an anti-inflammatory, from what I understand. It will not bring down fat. If you have a reaction (inflammation) from fat or other injections it will help that. But will not resolve the filler causing the inflammation.

I have silicone in my cheeks and lips. I had cortisone (kenalog) to reduce the over injected areas of silicone. It did reduce the silicone injected areas. One must be careful not to over inject cortisone or it will lead to skin atrophy which has also hapened to me and then silicone had to be reinjected to fill in the area again. I have also had kenalog for keloid scars which it also got rid of the keloid scar.

Questions? if you had to start all over again . Would you do the lip reduction surgery. After seeing this results?

OMG yes, what I had was so embarrassing. Now they are not noticeable, even if not perfect. YES!

Thank you for the information I had my lips filled with silicone, and wanted to reduce the size too
But two plastic surgeon's didn't suggest to use cortisone..I will go ask him. Thanks! :)

thank you, I have gone back for a little more taken out and they look really normal now :) Yes Dr Lam removes some skin and fat and the incision is hidden inside the lips.

I too had overfill of fat. You look amazing! Mine are very natural looking but little too big. I think you had more of a fake look, still looked nice but huge improvement! Beautiful!

How long did it take? How much? What was recovery? What if they were too small would he fix them and add fat?

The recovery isn't bad. No pain to speak of. He gives a steroid does pack so the swelling isn't that bad either. Worst part is having the sutures in for a week to 10 days. You would have to ask the Dr about the chance of your lips getting too small, but I think that is unlikely. He is conservative in what he removes, which is why I went back to have a little more removed.

I was going to have them lipo out but another Ps said don't do that. It can be lumpy and irregularities. That's made sense to me. Mine are so natural but when I smile I loose my teeth. What did you have injected in them?

I had the same procedure about a year ago he is the best surgeon for lip reduction he's actually an artist. I had a big bump on my lower lip on the left side and he was able to cut it out since then I've been back and he injected my scars so they will fade my lips look million times better now I'm thinking about having a lip lift

Everything went smoothly getting to Dallas thanks to Dr Lam's excellent assistant Constanze. She gave me all the hotel info, the car service they recommend, pre and post op instructions etc. Arrived in Dallas around 11:20, had consultation at 1:30, and the lip reduction at 2:30. Dr Lam does this procedure routinely and speaking with him made me feel very confident in going ahead with it.

Best part about the surgery is the surprising lack of pain. Even the numbing injections were nothing like at the dentist. I was a little nervous and they offered a Xanax and I was glad I took it. Just made it easier to sit still while the procedure was being done. Dr Lam works quickly, it was over before I knew it.

Two days post now, and lips are swollen, as I was warned they would be. Still no pain, just some tenderness. It is a little hard to drink without dribbling at the moment because my lips feel stiff.

You don't look too swollen compared to most I've seen who get this procedure. Dr. Lam is an artist!

thanks, I was pleasantly surprised too. I thought the swelling would be grotesque, and it never was. He gives a steroid dose pack, which helps with that. Dr Lam is an artist, for sure.
