I don't know that I consider myself vain.. I just...

I don't know that I consider myself vain.. I just want to look as best as I can. I have had a very high forehead since I was a kid. When my hair started to recede unevenly in my 20s I felt a big lack of confidence because of it. In my 30s I emptied my savings account and did two hair transplants and they were not bad, but basically my hair line still was very very high and my temple hair had receded. The surgeon at the time said temples could not be restored because they would look unnatural. Well, fast forward many years, I started to ponder the idea of further lowering my hairline and found a few surgeons that actually worked on temple point restoration, but these doctors were either in a different state or Europe. I kept searching and found Dr. Sam Lam and his right hand person right here in my same city!!!! I watched all of his videos on YouTube. He and his right hand lady Emina demonstrated their abilities through their you tube videos. They also do seminars domestically, as well as internationally. I took the plunge and on Monday (yesterday) I went in and did the procedure. I arrived at 6:45 am and Emina walked me to the surgery room and showed me where it would be done. I then put on my hospital robe and walked to the surgery room. Soon after, Emina and Dr. Lam went over my desired outcome and they outlined the hairline and temple points/peaks I wished for. Then their awesome nurse came in to administer the meds and they got to business. I fell asleep for about 3-4 hours and when I woke up I found they had already taken the strip from the back of my head and stitched it up. When I woke up, Dr Lam was creating the recipient sites (approximately 3,200 sites!). Meanwhile, there were 3 or 4 technicians diligently separating the grafts of 1,2,3 and 4 hair grafts. I was becoming a little hungry, as I had not eaten or drank anything since midnight and before I knew it they brought me a delicious lunch without me asking! I also had coffee and a few cookies because I have a sweet tooth haha.

When they had told me they don't don't do a rush job they were NOT kidding. I was their focus and I was worked on literally from 7 am til about 5:45 pm, with the exception of a short lunch they took. To be completely honest, it was like having a spa day in a way. I mean, I was asleep for a long while, then treated to lunch and coffee and they worked on my head while I watched a movie and I dozed on and off through the afternoon.

With my precious two procedures I experienced about an 8 in pain on a scale of 1-10. I am happy to report that on a scale of 1-10, I had a 0 in pain! Now, in there is a scale of "discomfort" l would say about a 4, but come on I just had about 3,300 grafts relocated on my head!!

I went in to my one day follow up today and everything looked great. I did start to experience swelling in the forehead, but I totally expected it. The swelling may get worse over the next couple days but I was told it should subside at about day 7.

I will keep you try to post future pictures, but if I forget please feel free to nudge me!

Please search YouTube for Dr. Sam Lam's hair transplant videos. Also search for his sidekick Emina's videos as well.

Expected swelling and a little discomfort

I had my procedure done two days ago and this morning I woke up to swelling in my forehead and between my eyes. Since I totally expected this to happen I'm having fun looking in the mirror and seeing how goofy one can look with just a little facial swelling. I took two pain pills today to calm the pain, but I really didn't absolutely need them. I just wanted to feel nothing for a while lol. I washed my hair this morning very gently. I will wash my hair again before I go to bed so that any loose crusts can come off. The post-op instructions indicate to apply a certain moisturizing cream on my grafts before going to bed and washing hair gently in the morning for the next few days. This will help the scabs to come off quicker and enable my recipient sites to become less crusty and go back to looking more normal. The recipient areas will remain reddish for a while and then the transplanted hairs should fall off over the next few weeks. I've done a LOT of research and I am completely confident that I am in good hands with Dr. Lam, Dr. Emina and their excellent staff!
