61 Years Old - Lower Face/neck Lift, Upper and Lower Bleph

ORIGINAL POST

Well, like so many of you, I have been researching...

Well, like so many of you, I have been researching for about 2 years and have finally decided to "git er done". I found Dr. Roberts and everything about him made me feel like he was the perfect doctor for me. I am scheduled for one week from tomorrow and I'll admit I'm pretty nervous. Partly because of the antibiotic he prescribed which, according to all I've read, can be very brutal on your stomach and cause bad diarrhea. Has anyone had any experience with Clindamycin? He was originally going to give me Kelflex but I have had very bad stomach cramps with that so I requested an alternative. Not too sure about the alternative though.

Also, I will be alone at Day 5 with a very energetic 7 month old puppy so that has me a bit concerned as well. Going to try to get some help from a local dog walker for the 2 days prior to suture removal.

Also very concerned about the migraine and nausea potential from the brow lift. I had originally planned on the upper bleph but the doctor told me he would have to be ultra conservative because I don't really have enough excess eyelid skin. So somewhat reluctantly decided on the brow lift (totally due to the migraine factor). Would welcome any input from anyone who has had that procedure.

I will be taking arnica and bromelain. I know lots of fluids are important too.

I welcome any input anyone can provide. I will attempt to keep current with posts and pictures. Looking at my photos, I can't believe I waited this long to do this! Ugh!

Thanks everyone! I really look forward to this journey with all of you.

Hi I had a brow lift on the 5th Apri.. I didn't really need my eyes done but wanted a subtle lift on the temple and really happy with the result. No headaches just a tad sore where the stitches are and I only took pain relief the day of the surgery and the next day. Good luck for the 18th

With the amount of pain I had, I keep thinking I should have just gone ahead with the brow lift but who knows. I would really have liked the lift to the bridge of my nose and my temples. Do you have pics posted on this site?

Hi yes on my profile.

Heavily considering this doctor for my neck/lower face lift...would love to hear how you are doing!! Excited for you!

At this point, I would highly recommend Dr. Roberts. Did you have your procedure yet?

You look great! I'm 2 years younger than you and had my neck and face lift mid-May. I had lower eyes done and the skin all around my mouth laser resurfaced (burned off) because of smoking wrinkles. You and I were almost identical in our healing - bruises and all, so I was glad to follow your journey! Have your bumps under your eyes gone away yet, though?

I've had a forehead lift. I did not get a headache from it. I think eyebrows are so important and a lift puts them back in right place. Good luck.

Changed mind regarding brow lift

Lee22876
Wanted to update that, as of today, I decided against the brow lift and am going with the upper and lower bleph instead. There were just too many aspects of the brow lift that I was uncomfortable with. But I will be getting the next best thing and I am confident that Dr. Roberts will do an excellent job. I'm now super excited as opposed to super stressed, so I can't wait until next Wednesday.

You seriously look 20 years younger! What a great job. I paid $16K here in USA, and ended up with my neck totally jacked-up (this top rated doc said he over-lipo-ed under my neck! I had NO idea he was going to “lipo” vs necklift! Now, just Retin-A the h*ll out of your dècollet /chest to match your youthful face! Congratulations! (PS: I had brow-lift on advise of my surgeon, and your results are equal to mine.)

Progress up to today (2 weeks post-op)

Lee22876
Well, sorry I didn't keep current on updates but I'll post what I can remember along with pics.
First of all, I had BAD pain! The drains were absolutely brutal the first day/night. They went behind my ears and, apparently, were pressing on the incisions back there. I don't really know if that was it but I know it hurt really, really bad. Then I had a LOT of pain the following 4 days. I could not even get out of bed until the 5th day and then for only a short time. Could only eat pudding, applesauce and jello. Couldn't open my mouth any wider for anything else without unbearable pain in my jaw. But once the pain passed, it's been pretty good since then. Still having issues with my left jaw though.
Stitch removal was mostly uneventful but a few really tender places behind my ears. But nothing terrible. I have a bump under my right eye that feels like a bb. I don't think it's a stitch. I've picked out several little pieces of stitches and it's not the same. I'm going to give it a little more time before I contact the doctor about it.
Loving the neck! But several issues I'm not in love with. I'll post pictures but in all fairness, I know I need to be more patient and give everything time to settle in. Patience is definitely not one of my virtues! The numbness in my face, neck and scalp makes me crazy! That's just not a feeling I'm comfortable with but hoping that all is resolved in time. The difference in right and left ear sutures is drastic in my opinion. There right ear already is nearly totally healed! Barely visible scar. But the left earlobe is a mess. Strange random piece of skin on the front and the back looks really bad. Doesn't even look like the same person did both sides. I know it's not as drastic as I make it sound but the last thing I needed was to get my neck fixed and then be self-conscience of my ears! I've wanted short hair FOREVER and was so looking forward to that. But there's no way I'll do that if my ears don't heal better. I wouldn't even wear my hair up or put on a baseball cap if they don't heal better than what I'm seeing now - and that's something I have always done a LOT.
So, that probably brings everything up to today. All in all, very little bruising and not a lot of swelling. I am still sleeping propped up on pillows and keeping the wrap on every night and when I'm home during the day. I took Arnica and Bromelain 3x/day starting 3 days prior to surgery and for one week post-surgery. My next follow up is on May 25.
Any questions or comments would be welcomed. I'm sure there's stuff I forgot to mention. Thanks!

I think I must have had my surgery around the same date you had yours because as of today, May 1, It’s been two weeks and a day since mine was done. I was lucky and had no pain. But I still have swelling and numbness and the sides of my face feel lumpy. I appreciate you sharing all the daily photos. It really helps to know if my recovery is “normal”. You look perfectly fine in your last couple of pictures. I, unfortunately, have very short hair so I’m still uncomfortable going out in public. In addition to the lift, I had my earlobes reduced and I just have no way to cover all those scars.

I'm so jealous of those who had no pain. I generally handle pain well but this was just brutal! Not sure what that was all about. I even opted out of having the brow lift because of the severe pain factor. The doctor and everyone in his office assured me that I wouldn't have hardly any pain. So I'm still a bit confused. My doctor reduces the earlobes too just because he's there doing the work in that area anyway but I am just not happy with the crease. I know I've just got to deal with it because there's no changing it now but I wish I had told him not to do that. I put hoop earrings on the other day and now they don't hang straight down. They are turned out now. And I have spots that feel like callouses on them also. Just kinda sucks to have something like that take away from the good results of the neck lift.

I'm glad to hear you have lumps too. Well, that doesn't sounds right but you know what I mean. I noticed in a window reflection yesterday while I was outside that it shows up a lot when I have the sunshine and shadows on my face. One more thing to be self-conscience about. But apparently that's normal and will improve in time.

You can see in the last two pictures how my earrings are turned out now. Not a big deal but just another issue that I'd rather not have.
May 3, 2018
You look great!!!!
May 4, 2018
Thanks! Each day gets better.
June 5, 2018
Thank you. I keep trying to see the fantastic results and stop looking at the little details that drive me crazy. But it all is better every day!
May 3, 2018
Was this a day surgery?
May 4, 2018
Yes, this was day surgery. Very looonnnggg day surgery. I think it was 6-7 hours.
May 6, 2018
Just not sure about day surgery. I think I want to stay overnight.... still looking and researching. Gets a little confusing. Please keep the updates coming. I am also 61.

I had the same problems with the back of my ears...after a little more than a year, the itching has subsided. Hope you are feeling better!
