Having been overweight the majority of my life, I...

Having been overweight the majority of my life, I was familiar with plus size clothing and the models that wore them. I never understood how some plus size models could have larger bodies and yet somehow also have sculpted jawlines. Genetics? Neck exercises? How was this possible?! And while I am comfortable with the size of my body now, I was tired of waiting around for my dream neck/jaw line to appear, always avoiding pictures because I was too self conscious about my double chin. My face always fluctuated a lot with the weight I'd lose/gain over the years, but even at my fittest/thinnest, I never had that defined, sculpted jawline. I decided I wasn't going to wait any longer and I'm so happy I didn't! The results are nothing short of incredible. Whereas before I didn't have a jawline or a neck, now I have both. And what's more is that while the difference is huge to me, I don't think it's so drastic that others can put their fingers on what has changed. However, I know I feel 1000% more confident now.
Here's how it all went down:
Consultation: Met with surgeon (Dr. Friedman is TERRIFIC!) and discussed what I was wanting. He assured me that he thought he could improve my jaw/chin/neck situation. Scheduled my surgery for the following week.
Day of Procedure: They performed some minor preparations (markings on neck done by Dr. Friedman, iodine slathered on neck/mouth area, etc.), but from the start to finish of the actual procedure, I'd say it lasted about 45 minutes. And I had a lot of fat to suck out. A LOT.
The Procedure Itself: I chose not to take a sedative, although I do believe they offer them for those who need the calming benefits. This isn't the most comfortable of procedures though. While 45 minutes in the scheme of things really isn't a long time, it can seem much longer when you're reclined so far back in a chair that you're in a flat position, and then your head is tipped back as far as possible to where you're staring at the wall behind you. For the entire surgery. But this is just the beginning. Then the doctor will prick you with the numbing juice (the needle stick wasn't bad in my opinion- but I have a crap-load of tattoos), and once you're good and numb, then he'll insert a massive syringe to begin filling your neck area with fluid. This fluid, from what I understand, helps limit your bleeding, assists in loosening the fat, and also spreads more numbing juice to the area. And it's a [RS bleep] load of fluid. Your neck will swell up to bullfrog proportions. You'll feel your neck getting tighter and you may feel a lot of pressure on your throat. Breathing, while possible, wasn't exactly a breeze. Something to be aware of for sure. THEN, this is where the lipo starts. He inserts his suction thingy and starts vacuuming out the fluid and with it, the loosened fat. This portion took the longest part of the procedure, which I'm grateful for as it's important the surgeon is making sure equal fat is being taken from all angles of the neck/chin/jaw area.
Post Procedure: After the procedure, you get a really sexy (not really) elastic head wrap to wear around for what feels like eternity (but was really 2 weeks). This was very uncomfortable at first, especially when sleeping, but then got easier and easier to wear as the days went on. While I was told there wouldn't be any bruising, I did bruise a little. Just a very little though. Nothing horrendous.
And that's it, ladies and gents. This was something I had thought about doing for a few years, and I'm so happy it's finally done. My results are incredible and I couldn't be happier!

After some extensive research, I decided on contacting Dr. Ronald Friedman, M.D. to discuss chin liposuction. Not only was his office staff super nice throughout the consultation process and post-surgery check-ups, but Dr. Friedman himself took the time to sit and understand what I wanted. He let me know if he thought my expectations were too high or too low, and I found him to be attentive and thorough. It has been almost 2 months since my surgery, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Dr. Friedman is a gifted surgeon with a great eye for aesthetics. Not only did I get a beautifully sculpted jawline, but I also found my forever plastic surgeon in the process.
