day 6 - dressing off - drains out

What a difference a week makes. I went for my post op yesterday.
Dressing removal - Got the dreadful compression dressing off. I think I had a bit of an allergic reaction to the adhesive as it was really beginning to burn and itch. Now that it is off I have a red mirror image of the bandage left on my skin. I took one of my pain pills before leaving for my appointment. I was worried about pain during dressing and drain removal. The only way I can describe the bandage removal is - it hurt a bit but felt so good to get it off that that the bit of pain was a relief.
Drains - I was really worried about the removal of the drains. I have read so many reviews with descriptions of agony. The nurse told me to take a deep breath and then just pulled them out. It was quick and only pinched a tiny bit. I told her what I had read and that I had been worried about the removal hurting. She said some people don't open the plugs (drain spouts) prior to removing them so when they pull them out they are still in"suction" mode. Makes sense - if the bulb is open the it's just an empty tube that slides out. Everyone should make sure theirs are open upon removal.
I am very pleased with the results! They are a bit swollen and I should start my period any day - so I am sure that is not helping matters.

They look great! :D Glad to see you are healing well like I am :)
You look great I am so happy for you! Can you tell me a little more about your experience with Dr. Friedman? I am going to a consultation with him for fillers and my friend for implants...what did you think about him as a person/professional and his staff?
Sorry. I just saw this. His staff is wonderful. He is VERY good. A bit of a smart ass, but a very skilled surgeon!
congratulations! such a positive difference already!!!

Two days post op

I have been so tired since the surgery! I had my reduction on Tursday - today is Thursday, surgery day was rough! I kept throwing up and basically felt miserable. My pain however has been very manageable. I have been basically resting and getting up to walk to the kitchen or bathroom.
My dressing is very tight across chest, but honestly I think it makes me feel more secure. I had to put a piece of gauze between the drain tubes and my skin as they were really rubbing and causing some irritation.
So far I think the key is to take your meds on a very strict schedule so that the pain doesn't get to be too much. I have been able to move over from the RX to regular Tylenol today.
Sorry I am all over the olace with this post. Will try to get into more detail tomorrow.
Oh one thing to note - I felt immediate relief in my neck and shoulders. Before I was really completely coherent I could tell that a huge weight had been removed.

Hi! Yes I agree the tight dressings and being all taped up made me feel swaddled.

Breast vs waist size

I wanted to show the disproportionate size between bust and waist. Also how large breasts make someone look so much heavier than they really are. Will update with photos in same shirt post op.

For the same procedure
Oh cool! Life changing day for both of us. Good luck to you!
Thanks! You too :)
I have experienced people saying it looks like I shrunk
I hope shrunk is a good thing. ;) It has been pretty interesting to hear my friend's reactions. I have always worn the best bra I could afford. Seriously my bra was usually the most expensive piece of clothing I had on at any given time. Anyway, folks would say yes you look big, but in a good way. THEN they saw me in a swimsuit with no support and TOTALLY understood why I wanted the reduction. One of the the mom's from my daughters school stopped by to check on me and just kept saying "I never realized you were a tiny person!" Girl I'll take someone calling me tiny any day.

You look fantastic, by the way!!! And super happy. You do look like you shrank! AND yes in a good way. Good luck to you.

So long "G's" Seriously if I ever talk about G's again it better be $.
