Since my adult teeth came in, I have hated my smile. I have a gap between my front two teeth and another one a couple teeth over. Everybody tells me how small and unnoticeable they are, but to me that’s the first thing I see when I look in the mirror. It causes me not to smile often and when I do my hand is always covering my mouth. I rarely will take a phone because I do not want to have memories of my teeth like this. I finally decided to do something about it. I had an appointment for my 3d scan with smile direct clubs smile shop in Pittsburgh. The appointment went amazing. The girl was really nice. They got great before images and she assured me that mine would be an easy case. I asked her many questions regarding my outcome given me dental “situations “. I have one missing molar (a baby tooth that was pulled as a child that did not have an adult tooth for) and several of my molars are baby teeth. She said that it would all be fine and was making note of all of this to let the dental professionals know about these things. She even commented that she herself had baby teeth and would be starting her smile journey in May. Overall, I left very pleased with my experience. Was even more ecstatic when my 3d smile was ready to be viewed on 3/5/18. My new projected smile gave me results that I could not wait to achieve ! The projected plan would take 5 months! I enthusiastically ordered my aligners for $1,750. And checked the status 3+ times a day because I was so excited (despite being told that it would take about 4 weeks for them to arrive). They sent me a link to review the aligners guide. In it, on page 7, they have a section titled precautions. Here they specifically say that if you have baby teeth or missing teeth that aligners are not for you. This sent up major red flags for me. Now I was worried and began to send them emails and ask questions. Not going into too many details about the content of the emails (pretty much me explaining everything I have previously stated here) they finished with I am not a candidate for aligners . All of this despite being approved for their aligners , paying for my aligners, and anxiously waiting for them and telling anyone who would listen that I was about to start them. Now they’re saying they were completely unaware of my situations which I’ve disclosed from the beginning and are offering me a refund. All this to say SmileDirectClub did NOT make me smile.

We're concerned to see this, as we do require customers to take a detailed questionnaire involving their oral health history that helps us to determine candidacy. This certainly doesn't sound in line with our standards or procedure, so we'll be sure to reach out via DM to discuss further.
