5 weeks
One month update
So I've just about reached the 5 week mark and starting to feel very proud of my pretty new asset. The swelling has mostly gone down and everything has tucked itself back in. There's still a little bulge below my clit but I'm hoping this is still going to go down. It's still a little bit sore and sensitive so I'm not really back to having sex yet.
Reflecting on the last few weeks.....not gonna lie, it was pretty painful. For a while. I would definitely recommend 2 weeks off work (unless you wanna explain to your boss why you can't sit down properly) and be prepared for a very uncomfortable menstrual period (with pads, no tampons). Tight jeans and g-strings are out.
But holy sh*% have you seen it?! It's a god damn thing of beauty! It has a way to go, the stitches haven't fully dissolved and I expect the clitoral hood to shrink a bit more, but I'm stoked with the results.

Ever since I was a kid, I was aware of my vagina...
Ever since I was a kid, I was aware of my vagina looking different to everyone elses. When I showed my mum, she asked if I had been pulling it. I later learnt that I had what is called an elongated labia minora and it's actually a relatively common thing! Once I found out there was a fix, I knew that was something I definitely wanted to do.
I'm 26 yrs old and have had two long term female partners who have both loved my vagina (it has "character") but I didn't want to do this for anyone else. I wanted to do it for me. I am a very self proud person with few insecurities. This was my only one and I figured that if there was a way to combat that, why shouldn't I ! I also didn't want to have any regrets as I got older, when insecurities tend to develop anymore.
I researched prices at home (New Zealand) where a labia minora reduction would cost around $5000 NZD. Then I looked at options in Thailand. I found out that I could get the procedure, plus 8 nights accommodation in a 5 star hotel, and flights for both myself and my partner for the same price. No brainer. I ended up booking through a New Zealand booking agent, Medi-Cation. They organised everything from appointments, flights, transfers and accommodation. I would highly recommend doing this as the booking fee is relatively cheap ($300 from memory) and worth every cent for piece of mind, security and lack of stress when going into an already nerve-racking procedure.
After arriving in Phuket, I had a day to recover from jetlag and recce the area, then had my appointment with Dr. Piyapas at the Jungceylon Clinic the following day. I was adamant I wanted the procedure to be done under a local anaesthetic as my body does not respond well to generals, which are slightly riskier and not necessary for this procedure. The surgery took 2 hours. Having the anaesthetic injected was really painful but the rest of the procedure was fine. I didn't realise that one of the pills they gave me when i first arrived was a sedative so I relaxed pretty quickly and felt a bit dozey by the end. The nurses were comforting, holding my hand. Dr. Piyapas was great, but in my opinion lacked the bedside manner that people have spoken about. The nurses spoke very little English and were sometimes a bit difficult to communicate with. After the procedure, I was given some antibiotics and pain killers to take away with me and I was dropped back to my accommodation.
About 30 mins after arriving back, the local wore off and boy did it wake me up! The pain was excruciating and after looking at the pain meds prescribed, I was only prescribed Norgesic which is just aspirin and caffeine.....I was actually quite shocked that they expected this to be sufficient pain relief considering they had just cut part of my vagina off..I called the clinic and asked them to bring me something stronger. After several difficult phone calls trying to explain what I needed, they brought some tramadol and arcoxia (the legal high was a nice distraction!). Luckily I had also brought a few pain meds from home. I would advise anyone else to do the same as I could not have put up with that pain for another day.
I'm now the day after and feeling ok. Still in quite a bit of pain but it has eased with some decent painkillers. Walking and sitting is pretty painful so have stayed in the hotel, hoping to get out for a bit tonight.
Vagina is a bit swollen but looking way better than I had expected it to at this stage! Already pleased with the results and proud to show off my new glory bits (no sex for 4 weeks though..).
For anyone considering - do it. But just make sure you do your research first, go through an agent and come prepared.

Dr. Piyapas was friendly and did a great job. I was concerned however at the lack of information provided re post care; swimming, sex, use of tampons etc., and was not provided with sufficient pain medication post surgery.
