58 Years Old and Want These Big Heavy Breasts Gone

WORTH IT$7,700
I had my plants about 8 years ago. I had always thought about it but was afraid something would go wrong. Oh how I wish I had stayed cautious. At the time I was dating a man that was obsessed with large breasts and he made me feel inadequate. That relationship is long over but here I am with these huge DD breasts and it makese look heavy and matronly. Clothes don't fit right. I wear black tops to help me look smaller. The bras are so ugly. I have an appointment next week to discuss explant. I'm scared how I will look but I really hate my body like it is. What a mistake to have these implants. I hope my health is not affected. This site has been so helpful and supportive. I'm posting pics of before explant. These are so heavy and droopy that I never want to be seen naked.

Consultation gives me hope !!
I met with Dr. Grant Stevens today at the marina plastic surgery office. It was so encouraging and they seem really supportive there. I really feel that I need to have a lift along with the implant removal in order for me to feel completely happy and positive about my body . I need to think about it and decide how I can pay for it. The cost is $7300 between the surgeon and facility fees . I know I have to get this done and I will just figure out a way to make it happen . It sounds like the recover won't be too bad and I could be back to work within a week . I really want to book the procedure for July

Hi have you read my review as it looks to me as though you might be paying too much for your explant as it can be done under local anaesthetic its a 20 minute procedure and im having mine Friday and home in time for my son back from school ! hope you get sorted out

Question about drains
Im reading a lot of comments about drains. My surgeon said there would be no need for drains unless I had excessive bleeding which should not be an issue. I'm going to stay away from anything hat would have this impact.
Is there any reason why some doctors use drains and others don't ?

When a lot of work is done on the breasts, drains are typically put in place. With a simple & straight forward explant, drains may or may not be placed. I was super worried about excess fluids & bleeding & asked for them to prevent a seroma from forming. My PS obliged me & put them in even though I had a pretty straight forward removal. However, even if you don't expect any excess fluids to form, they do also create a vacuum inside the breast pocket which helps adhere it to the chest wall faster as well. It's really just surgeon's preference whether to place them or not. Or, in my case, patients preference that surgeon agrees to do.

If you are having that much work done it would seem to me they would want the drains. I did not have them on explant and worry if the pocket closed and if there is fluid still in there. I did have drains years ago when I implanted and there was a decent amount of fluid that came out. Some doctors don't do it because it adds to the possibility of infection. With all the different ways doctors do their surgeries it shows that there is still an opinion factor involved. That being said, you can let him know if you decide drains are best for you.

it is my understanding that most of the top surgeons who perform explant do use drains especially for those with silicone implants and capsule removal. Do you have saline or silicone and did you discuss capsule removal with your surgeon?

in addition to the three comments below, my doctor feels that drains are important to keep infection from happening. More fluid, more chance for infection if it doesn't have an easy exit. He also says at least one and a half weeks to two weeks off work. Aftercare is extremely important!

Hi 58 & want explant,
I am 54 and just had my implants removed 2 weeks ago after 27 years. I did not need a lift but everyone is different. As SavvyDee said earlier, the placement of the nipple in relation to your breast fold determines if a lift is warranted. Perhaps it's a good option for you. I'm so glad you've decided to do the explant. I wish you all the best. As to drains, they were a nuisance but very worthwhile to greatly reduce the possibility of infection. Especially with the lift surgery in addition to the explant. That's a pretty extensive surgery, I believe. Blessings and peace to you! Dove

Thanks for starting your story! Your breasts do look heavy and uncomfortable and it will be good to feel lighter and freer when this is all over. Please let us know how your consultation goes, and don't be afraid to consult with more than one doctor if you're having a hard time finding someone supportive.
