Thanks for sharing this, I can understand why you're very upset. Since this happened in 2015, so you need to take action immediately. Have you talked to a medical malpractice lawyer?

Going ahead with surgery despite no prior tests – for anyone, but especially with your medical history – is a HUGE RED FLAG. You shouldn’t have had the surgery that day, period.

So your surgeon was very sloppy, very greedy, or both. He put his schedule and bottom line ahead of your health – AND the hospital let it happen. (Not to mention the anesthesiologist, nurses, etc.).

Of course your surgeon isn’t involved anymore! I’m sure the hospital told him to stay well away.

If they haven’t already, the hospital/doc’s insurance company will try to con you into taking a little bit of $ and signing something that takes away all your future rights – and even your right to talk to anyone about it. There’s almost always a NDA (non-disclosure agreement) clause.

BUT EVEN IF YOU DID sign something get in touch with a lawyer.

I’m not a doctor, but I’ve had numerous surgeries -- but NEVER without lots of lab work and a doctor’s exam first. As I’m sure you know by now, important tests need to be done to make sure you’re healthy enough for the surgery and to flag any possible concerns for the surgeon and the anesthesiologist.

In my experience, surgeon’s offices are incredibly organized and super-meticulous about details – which obviously is how it should be! I usually get two phone calls from a nurse, going over all the details.

Please do what you can now to look after yourself!
