Labiaplasty - Aka. Partial Bilateral Hemivulvectomy - Panama City, FL

WORTH IT
I've lurked this website for years and considered many procedures. (and this wont be my last)
I wanted to share my experience because it has been so helpful for me to read others.
Yesterday, I had what the doctor termed a partial bilateral hemivulvectomy. (labiaplasty)
I was in and out of the surgery center within 2 hours- though I never felt rushed.
I chose to have my gynecologist do the surgery not only because he was recommended, but because I instantly trusted him. Dr. Wolf is wonderful.
I needed to have this done due to tearing and pain. I wont lie though - it will be nice not to have to see my "wings" hanging out down there.
I took the prescribed pain meds last night. And this morning have decided not to take them and see how it goes. There is still pain of course... but not unbearable. There is little swelling and no bruising.
I had the Alters method - aka the wedge.
I am already saying it was worth it, and I cant say enough good things about Dr Wolf and the Panama City Surgery Center.
Im adding some pictures even though its embarrassing.
The second one is only 18 hours after. I will add more as I can spread the majora.
Hope this helps someone.

Dr. Wolf is wonderful. He is compassionate and understanding as well as efficient with his (and your) time. His confidence is evident.. and most certainly warranted.

Welcome to the community, thank you so much for joining us. Thank you for being brave and sharing your photos, the community really appreciates it. I look forward to your updates, be sure to get lots of rest. Are you icing the area to help with the swelling?

I haven't even needed it. :)
I actually went to the gym today!

Oh wow - you are a trooper. :)

Lol! I'm really surprised it hasn't been worse.
I do see a bit of bruising now... but this isn't so bad.
But I think a lot of the credit goes to Bactine. It takes care of any discomfort I've had.

Is it the Bactine spray? I would love for you to add your recovery tips here

It is the spray. I carry it in my purse and spritz it when I use the bathroom.
I'll keep updating.
I would have never thought I'd post pictures like this... but I think it's important.

I used the spray after my laser tattoo removal, I love it! I understand that it may feel uncomfortable to post pictures, so thank you for being brave and sharing personal and very private photos, you are absolutely correct -- they are so helpful for others and will break the ice for anyone else who is timid about sharing some. :)

what did you pay?
September 2, 2015
My insurance covered it so I paid very little. My doctor said it runs around $2500 in this area though.

When you say vulvectomy - does this mean the surgery was medically necessary? Does this docror do reconstructions?

It's been a week now since my labiaplasty. I had a 5 hour car ride to Atlanta on day 3 - I sat on one of those round travel neck pillows and it was no problem at all. I've continued to use the Bactine spray... but I am now only using it as an antiseptic to make sure everything stays clean.
I walked around the city for the next couple of days and have had no complaints or concerns.
I think I have been very fortunate in that I am healing well.

Everything has healed wonderfully.
I have no more problems wearing jeans. Its so nice to not worry about preparing for injuries on vacation from a lot of walking. And it looks much better as well.
Again, I say Dr. Wolf is awesome.

Hi! I had the same thing done about a year ago by my local gyno. I had a partial vulvectomy so it would go through my insurance. I don't think my outcome was a good as yours. Do you experience pain with sex at all ever since the surgery? I used to have a very healthy sex life before the surgery but now The sides to my entrance hurt when touched. I also think I lost quite a bit of sensation. Did you have any problems with that?
