It looks really natural! Congrats! Did people notice out of themselves?
Only one friend (who is really super observant) noticed without being told. My immediate family didn’t notice, even when it was still pretty swollen.

Left, before; right, 10 weeks post-op. I wanted the small hump removed and the tip reduced in size.

Congratulations! You look great. He is amazing.
Oh it looks fantastic! Love it!!!!! Glad you are happy with it!!
it looks so great - and its done in such a subtle way that I don't think anyone could tell unless you pointed it out.
Literally no one has noticed who did not know about the surgery. My mom did know I was having surgery but when I saw her at six weeks, I had to remind her to look at it. People generally seem to think it is a haistyle change or a tan or something like that.
This is great
You look amazing! I am recovering from my first day (rhinoplasty) your pictures and personal story are great for my own road to recovery as I go back to work two weeks from today. Congratulations!!
You look great! It looks like from your post picture that maybe you got a brow lift also? If so did Dr. Most do it? That also looks wonderful! How is your nose now? Are you still happy? Thanks!
ORIGINAL POST

I had been self-conscious about my nose on and off...

I had been self-conscious about my nose on and off since high school. It was not outright horrible or even very bad by most people's standards, so although I disliked certain aspects of it, I was nervous about the possibility of making it worse. As a result I considered rhinoplasty for almost a decade before finally deciding to go through with it at 35. Although I still have some swelling and my results can't yet be considered "final," I got the subtle changes I wanted, which has increased my confidence, and my nose functions as well as or better than before.

Although many people say afterwards that they wish they had done in sooner, I'm actually glad in hindsight that I waited this long to have rhinoplasty, for a few reasons:

(1) I'm far enough along in my career that I was able to afford it without feeling guilty: Although I say the procedure was "worth it," it would not have been going into debt for. Cosmetic surgery is a luxury and there are more important things to take care of first, like paying off student loans, etc.
(2) I was old enough that I had come to accept my old nose and myself as a whole: Although I didn't love my nose as it was, I could have lived with it the rest of my life without a problem. I was able to think of the surgery as a nice-to-have and not a must-have, and was not under the mistaken impression that it would change my life drastically.
(3) I didn't rush into surgery and took my time choosing the right doctor: I think that if I had pursued rhinoplasty earlier in life, I would have been less diligent about choosing a doctor. Choice of surgeon is absolutely critical and I'm glad I did a lot of research over a number of years before deciding.

I will follow up with some before and after photos. It's a little embarrassing to do so, but the photos shared by others were extremely helpful to me in my own decision process.

Hello! Thanks for sharing your story. I am considering Dr. Sam Most for a complicated revision rhinoplasty. It would be great if you could share your photos. I would love to see the changes.
Just added some. Good luck in your search!
You are my hero!
Thanks for sharing this. I am having my surgery today (finally)! I am 50 and have felt like its now or never. Your sentiments about waiting are spot on and reflect my feelings exactly.
Good luck and congratulations on doing something nice for yourself! I'm sure it will be a breeze.
How was your experience with your nose immediately post surgery? Were you really sick from the anesthesia or was it manageable?
I didn't have any nausea, and the pain was moderate. I did have to take the prescription painkillers, though- it was a bit too strong for Tylenol.
I was hoping to get through it with nothing but Tylenol but may have to get through the first days with the painkillers
The surgical nurse told me not to be a stoic and she was right- if you try to hold out and the pain gets too bad, it's harder to get over the hump again; my suggestion would be to take the prescription stuff a few times per day (I think I did about 50% of whatever the daily dosage is), but make sure you have laxatives handy to offset the opioid induced constipation.
Oh the joys of surgery! :P Did you need to take antibiotics or steroids as well?
Just a few days of antibiotics
