MiraDry I’d like to give you a review of my M...

MiraDry

I’d like to give you a review of my Miradry experience with DUET Plastic surgery in Palo Alto, California.

The trip was well worth the money and experience.

Like many whom have investigated combating hyperhidrosis, this has been on my mind since childhood. I grew up on the east coast and the summers are so muggy, nothing would ease the constant sweating. For me, I would sweat even in an air conditioned room and being outside all year around, as well.

I first contacted DUET after reading a review here. All of my e-mails were answered promptly and professionally by Dr Lim, one of the partners. I set a date, made some arrangements for flight and hotels to San Francisco. As I had not been in the area since childhood, I wanted to explore a bit while there. There is no need to get a car as public transportation is easily available … train, metro, Bart as well as Uber or Lyft make it very easy to get around.

And I was able to see the city and a couple of friends I used to work with in DC area.

The normal cost was a bargain at $2000. I have seen upwards of $3000, which often includes to visits. When MiraDry first came out, two sessions were almost mandatory. There are 5 settings on the machine. Originally, the first treatment was preformed on setting #3, which took care of most if not all sweating on “some” people. A return visit at setting #5 would correct what was missed or not taken care of on the first visit. I doubt I will need for a second procedure as mine was performed on #5, to start.

Recently, some providers were experimenting with starting on Level #5, with great results. I had planned to make a visit to North Carolina to see a physician that started with Level 5, then I found DUET after reading a review here.

My procedure was on a Monday, the office manager, Jolie was very courteous and assisted with getting appointment set up and confirmation call prior to my visit. Gigi, runs the machine and was quite pleasant as well. What separates, having this performed by a plastic surgery outfit is simple … comfort! Many Miradry providers cannot compare with the technique and experience of a plastic surgeon. Dr. Lim did my office intake and Dr. Weintraub, her partner, did the anesthetic. She was extremely gentle, taking her time with injections of lidocaine slowly to make sure I was comfortable with the procedure.

After the procedure, that lasted less than an hour, I was off. I walked over a mile back to the hotel … DO NOT DO THIS!! I had some significant swelling, which can be expected, but feel I may have added quite a bit by not taking a taxi back to the hotel. The hotel I stayed in had a small refrigerator with freezer, where I placed reusable ice packs, as well as an ice machine outside the office.

I iced off and on all night while awake, except for walking to dinner, again, not recommended.

The next day I received a follow-up email, which was nice. I provided feedback… I still had some significant swelling as well and some bruising, but the swelling mostly subsided during my trip back to San Francisco the next day (Tuesday). More swelling after sleeping then decreased throughout the day. I was on my feet exploring most if the next day, (don’t do this), I did a bit more icing throughout the day and night, but not near as much as day and night of procedure.

The following day (Wednesday), I traveled back to Alaska, with little discomfort.

The great news, I was able to go to work 3 nights after the procedure without any limitations. I’m an ER nurse and am up walking and running for most of a 12 hour shift, 4 nights in a row.

It has been a week since my procedure, I still have some swelling and bruising but both are subsiding greatly. Best of all, I have yet to have ANY sweating or used ANY deodorant or worn a t-shirt since my procedure, first time in 25 years! And trust me, I’ve had more than one coworkers nose in my armpits to verify, I don’t stink. Sick nurses, I know.

Suggestions, take it easy right after the procedure and the first few days to follow.
Ice using a waterproof, cheap, cotton covered bag (like given in an ER), rather than the gel type reuseable bags, as you can ice almost continuously, without fear of frostbite.
Have an early morning appointment, if possible to get started on icing earlier in the day.
And make an appointment ASAP, before the price goes up.

Tell them Nurse Bob sent you.
