As a 40 something mom looking to undo some of the damage from breastfeeding my 2 children, I had implants and a lift with Dr. Mark Pinsky in August 2012. He did not listen to what I wanted and became defensive when I questioned anything he said. I started as a b cup and was looking to get a full natural looking C. I woke up w a DD as he decided on 375cc high profile implants. On my 5'2" 120 lb frame I looked ridiculous.
At first they were really high and he had me wear a strap for about 4 weeks After 8 weeks they were completely bottomed out and my right breast had a bad infection that had to be treated for 3 mo.
He had to remove the implants in April (8 months post op) as I was in too much pain to leave them in – I had rippling, awful scarring and was in constant discomfort. He agreed (after much debate) he would redo them in 6-12 months and waive his fees. He said the longer I wait the better to allow the scar tissue to form and maybe he would not have to use Strattice. He would put in the correct size and profile and could give me the implants since his girlfriend works for Allergan. The quote he gave me for him to repair his previous surgery would be about $4,000 for surgicenter, anesthesia and strattice.
Throughout all this, Dr. Pinsky never owned up to any issue stating "they are a little low but still it's a very good outcome", "they are very pretty" etc. (see pics) In his opinion the pocket was properly formed, however I had consults with 5 surgeons who all said in their opinion pocket was likely over dissected and/or lift was overly aggressive.
As you can see in the attached pics he left areola remnants below the actual areola and when I complained he glared at me and said that's very common when he makes the areola smaller. I have significantly uneven nipples, and different size and shaped areolas. I have loss of sensation, white hatched scars around the areolas and a vertical scar to my rib cage. My skin was so stretched out from the bottoming out of the implant that there is now an extra ridge of skin below my breasts ( photo)
Although he said wait 6 months, Ana his pt coordinator started emailing and calling me to scehdule surgery after about 3 mo. I couldnt take time off and was not emotionally ready anyway. I told her I wasn't ready and would contact her.
Being uncertain of his skill and competence I was hesitant to have a second surgery with him. At this point I did consult w several surgeons. All said they could improve the issues from Pinskys surgery, at a cost. These are highly respected revision doctor:
Jason Pozner, Robert Cooper, Luis Vinas, Don Revis and finally Armando Soto.
Dr. Soto said "if you were my pt I would be running down the street after you begging you to let make this right ". I really liked him and he recommended I go back to Pinsky, let him make it right as he made the problem so should be best to fix it and would want his pts happy. At the time I thought that made sense but that's clearly not the case
I got the complete run around when
I tried to book a consult. It took 3 months (as a new patient you can get in same day). I am not sure why suddenly Ana no longer responded to my calls or emails. I sent 4 emails and left voice mails w her with no response. Finally Linda his practice manager emails me back and says we need to have a call before she will schedule. After the call they say they have to check with Dr P and finally 3 months after I tried to get in, he grants me an appt like he is doing me a favor.
On Consult he asked me what I wanted to accomplish and when I said I just wanted my breasts to look normal he actually rolled his eyes at me! The way I was treated by him was disgusting and humiliating. He had both Ana and Linda come in the room, neither are medical professionals. He instructed me to stand in front of everyone half naked as he took photos from different angles. It was completely humiliating esp. as clearly he had no intention of honoring his agreement to repair my breasts anyway. When I said I would like the scars improved and areola tissue remnants removed he glared at me and said those scars are actually very good. He then said he couldn't ever make me happy and I should go to another surgeon because, and I quote "this is the best I can do"!!! At that point my husband stood up and said then let's just go. I think Ana and Linda felt bad but they do what he wants.
Since Dr. Pinsky has taken the stance that he is now unable (unwilling) to repair his surgical outcome, I will do as he suggested and have it done by another physician.
I paid Dr. Pinsky for a service I did not receive and he has gone back on his word and written quote to correct this with no surgical fees. I have requested repayment of the $6150 surgical fees which would be the right thing for him to do.
I should have been suspicious due to that he advertises everywhere, magazines, radio, TV, internet and even the shirts of kids soccer league. I think A decent plastic surgeon who has been in business over 20 years in the same area would probably have a large repeat and referral practice and no need to spend thousands on advertising.
I hope no other human being goes through the abuse that I have endured. It's been almost 2 years of hell for me. I am left with deformed breasts that look far worse now than even before I had surgery w Dr. Pinsky. I am still shocked he actually said to go to another surgeon because "this is the best I can do" If that's truly the case I feel for the women out there who have an appt with him!! I wish anyone looking to have plastic surgery the best possible outcome. Clearly, I cannot recommend Dr. Mark Pinsky

So far he refuses to give a refund. :(. Worse my son plays soccer with his grandson so I will still have to see him. Ugh!

I am so sorry you are having to deal with such a terrible unethical doctor!!! I am so glad you are sharing your experience in hopes anyone considering using him on this site will rethink their decision. Wish there was a way to alert any of his potential customers.

I know, but he spends thousands on advertising too. I'm sure he has to because referrals and repeat patients must be scarce. I have wondered if he is getting ready to retire and just doesn't care. I just hope no one goes through what I endured. Mentally, physically, emotionally and financially devastating. Thank you for your well wishes. This site has been a godsend for support.

Wow. He doesn't sound very professional or ethical at all. I'm so sorry for your experience! This is supposed to be a happy time in your life, not one made more difficult by a rude and obviously unexperienced doctor. I'll definitely let people know not to go to Dr. Pinsky. Please keep us updated!

Have you already had your revision surgery? I just wanted to check on you and say I hope you are doing well!

Thanks for checking on me! No revision yet, I had to reschedule it due to travel. I am so nervous to have another surgery after my last experience. If my breasts looked somewhat normal I doubt I would even consider it!!

I completely understand! The best thing to do is have the surgery when you know you have the downtime to recover and it won't add more stress to your life.

Yippee! I'm sincerely excited for you!
