Ok, so where do i start. I am 30 years old and have been hiding my huge calves for years( 16 inches each which is too big for my frame. i am 5.7; 137 pounds) I have tried everything possible to reduce the size of calves, but nothing worked. I worked out 5-6 times a week and maintained a healthy lifestyle, but the fat from my calves refused to vanish. I finally decided to do something about it and go through liposuction( i wanted to try the non-invasive cool sculpting , but it is not approved on calves) On May 28th 2015 i had liposuction done on my calves. Originally, i also signed up to do a breast augmentation, but after reading some horror stories and possible complications , i opt out of it. The recovery is not easy for sure.
Day 2 post op: i had to take all the ace wraps , compression stockings , band aids off, wash the legs and put everything back on. It is a very uncomfortable process and the first time i did it it took me more than an hour and it looked like a blood scene from a scary movie. When you take the band aids off, the fluid comes out of your legs. The doctor told me about it, however you still can't prepare for it mentally. I went back to work on Monday, June 1st , and it wasn't easy at all. I can work from home and i was keeping my feet elevated the whole time, however, after a long 9 hour work day , i was hurt. The night was the worst as i was in pain and couldn't sleep. Even though the doctor told me i will be fine to go to work in 2-3 days, i feel that having a full week off will probably be the best. I can't say i see results yet, but , from what i have been told, it takes around 2-3 months to see results. I am very anxious to see the results. I believe the doctor took over 300cc of fat out of my calves. I will post photos in a couple weeks .

Calf and ankle lipo is no joke. I'm at 1 1/2 weeks post op. And I'm still hurting and the swelling is crazy. My hamstring muscle is so sore that it feels like it might snap. I pray all this will be worth it. My advice is find some compression thigh highs ASAP. It will really help even out the swelling. My calves were as large as yours. Hang in.

Thank you for sharing your experience ! You hang in there as well. I have been wearing compression thigh highs right after the surgery and ace wraps on top of them. I am 6 days post op now and for whatever reason for the last 2 days i woke up in the middle of the night because of severe burning pain in my legs. I had to take pain pills when i woke up at 2 am as i couldn't tolerate the pain. My hamstring muscle is very sore as well and i can't even feel it . My skin is soooo sensitive to the touch and when i tried to apply band aids to the incision woulds , it felt like someone took an iron and ran it down your lag. I got dizzy a couple times after changing my band aids daily. Such a chore, but i am very consistent with it as i don't want any complications. I hope it will be worth it as well. I also keep my feel elevated as much as i can including at night. I know it takes time , but do you see any results?

Burning is normal. I still get a bit of sharp pains. It does it better. Slowly... I'm at 2 1/2 weeks now. Still a lot of swelling. Hard swelling. I see a bit of a difference. I can tell it's going to be good. It just needs time. I'm thinking 6 weeks I'll start to see a difference. I got dizzy too in the shower if I had to stand too long. But good news is 85% of all the bruising is gone.

I had mine done May 8th. I spent every night with my feet up and I didn't go back to work for about 6 days. I had compression leggings...not stockings. They felt so good on my legs. But when I went back to work I knew I needed something more so I got s prescription for full length compression stockings and I wore my leggings at the same time. Because my leggings only went to my ankles and my feet would swell. I gotta tell you...my recovery was so easy. I just started working out today and it didn't bother me at all. Try my suggestion with the leggings and stockings. They are a miracle. And don't over do it. And keep ur feet up as much as possible for at least two weeks and then it should be smooth sailing. Good luck. I hope the outcome is as fantastic as mine.

How long did you wear compression? Did you wear compression while you worked out? Where did you find compression leggings? Haha! Sorry that's a lot of questions.

Hi Sarah. I have been wearing compression leggings for almost 3 weeks already. I have an appointment next week and will find out if I need to continue to wear them. I haven't worked out yet( tried a rebounder for 20 min yesterday but my calves were killing me. I hope I can go back to working out soon) I bought a pair of stockings by rightfit 18-20 compression ( got them on Walgreens website) but 1 week after my surgery I needed to purchase stockings by jobst 30-40 compression that I got on amazon . It is the highest compression and they are hard to put on , but I feel that they do make a difference. How is your recovery coming? Do you see a difference? Are you able to workout now?

Thank you so much. How many inches did you loose in your legs so far?Do you know how much fat was taken out? Also, would you mind sharing you photos? I think i am finally starting to see a little bit of improvement, but hope they will go down more. Thank you for sharing your journey .

I do wear them as I work out. I asked my dr about it yesterday and my post op and he said, "if you feel ok with wearing them then you should, they only help support you". So of course I do. I don't understand why people spend so much money on a procedure to ruin it by being stubborn and not doing what they are told by their dr. It's an easy thing and it feels so much better than being swelled up. Of course I still swell a little because it's only been a month. And realistically it takes about 9 months before the swelling is completely gone. My leggings I got from my dr. Word to the wise...try to have them order them. They are expensive. And after paying a lot of money for surgery, they should include them, if not get you a discounted price. They are made by marena comfort wear. They are full length leggings from my waste to my feet. They just don't cover my feet. They feel like silk on my legs. I don't need to wear them anymore but I still do. I think by wearing them still I'm only helping myself and my recovery. Plus I wear scrubs to work so they are easily hidden. You can go online and see their product line and order from there if you want, but I think you should see if your dr can get them for you first. I hope this helps.

So, it has been 2 weeks since my op. The recovery isn't easy for sure. My calves are still very numb , but at least i can walk now. I continue to wear compression stockings and take vitamins including bromelain supplement to help with swelling. My legs are still very bruised and there are still incision marks on my legs. Can't wait for all of that to go away. I can't say i can see any differences yet. Attached are some before and after photos( with stocking on). I hope to start seeing results soon.

I would love to see pics and know more about how your results came out. It is so hard to find good info on calf lipo :/

I know what you mean. I couldn't find much information online and that's why I decided to share my experience for anyone considering it . We can definitely chat

I had calf and ankle lipo yesterday and my results were immediate. I will begin to swell and have some but after the swelling all subsides in a few weeks I know exactly what I shave to look forward to. I hope you continue to see the results you desire. I have a posted a review of my experience on here as well, but I'm not sure if it's visible yet.

You results are truly amazing!!! I am very impressed. I think you legs were beautiful even before the surgery , but now they are phenomenal !!! Congratulations. I wish I could say it was worth it but I can't yet. Do you know how much fat was taken out and how much did you pay? The shape of your legs prior to the surgery is very proportionate too. My right calf was larger than the left one as you can see from my pictures. I hope they will become even and go down in size.

I didn't ask how many ccs of fat he removed- the canister had quite a lot of yellow-white fat in it, if I had to guess about 7-800ccs. I paid about 8500 for my calves, ankles, and knees and would do it again tomorrow
June 20, 2015
Thank you so much for your prompt response. The doctor told me 700 ccs was taken out( not 300ccs as I originally thought). My calves were like tree trunks originally so maybe that's why I didn't see immediate results. I noticed that you are not bruised at all and it is your first week. My legs looked like someone murdered them because of all the bruising, dry patches, swellings, blood. Glad you found a doctor that delivered and you are happy. Thank you for sharing your story. If I am not happy with my results , I might consider looking into visiting your doctor. I like the technique she used . I was under "twilight" anesthesia when liposuction was performed

My doctor has done some revsions on people who weren't happy with their initial calf lipo procedures. I think if you search calf lipo Tampa you find the review from the girl that saw him for a revision.
I can't imagine seeing the fluid ooze out during the dressing changes! Looking forward to your updates and photos.
