My primary rhinoplasty was performed by another surgeon in July 2017. As the swelling resolved, I came to the distressing realization that the procedure had been botched. My nose was crooked, dented, bulbous, and looked worse than it had prior to the surgery. Knowing that revision rhinoplasty is widely regarded as the most challenging plastic surgery to perform and fearing that a second operation would further damage my nose, I was initially hesitant to pursue surgical correction. My surgery lasted about three and a half hours and involved grafting, scar tissue correction, tip reshaping and stabilization, septoplasty, an osteotomy, and reduction of the lower turbinates. Despite the open approach I had far less bruising and swelling than I did after my initial (closed) rhinoplasty. The recovery was quick and painless with minimal discomfort. I am now over one year post op and I am absolutely thrilled with the results! My nose is elegant, functional, and completely natural looking. My breathing has improved as well. I am so grateful to Dr. Ridgway for fixing my botched nose and restoring my confidence. He is a gem of a surgeon and an all-around wonderful human being who has changed my life for the better!
