WORTH IT
I have wanted this since being a teenager. My mother talked me into waiting till after I had kids. At 37 I finally decided enough is enough, why suffer with back pain and headaches and awful droopy breast. I never liked my breast growing up so I hope that not only will the pain go away but that I will be able to finally like my breast.

You will notice changes as the swelling goes down, it takes time so be patient.

Surgery day

Elabla
Had my surgery on May 5. My process was pretty quick for Ontario. I had my referral sent on feb 23, then my consult on March 9 and surgery may 5. My family doctor let me choose my ps. My first choice re-referred me to a new associate in his practice which is why I was able to get in so quick. I took the leap and went with the new associate, so far surgery went great, my recovery and pain management is going good. I had the anchor method done with drains for 24 hours. Spent one night in hospital as I live about 1h1\2 from my ps and he didn't want me spending all that time in a car going home and coming back to get my drains taken out. I have to say it was nice spending that day in hospital. Drains came out very easily no pain at all. I don't get to see my result for a week as my bandages need to stay on.

Also had I chosen to go with my first choice I would have been scheduled for a consult in June and my surgery date would have been approximately one year from my consult date. I wasn't able to wait that long. Lol

How did you do? Are you happy? I am from Alberta and I am 16 days post op, but have some nerve pain
May 9, 2016
I'm doing good. Pain is minimal but I've been taking pain meds as ordered. I'm also being catered to pretty great by my husband and kids so I'm not worried about doing too much. I'm only 4 days post op no nerve pain, no zingers yet only thing that happened when waking up Sunday I stretched and that hurt and my right breast swelled up and was tender all day, swelling has now gone down and feeling good today. I haven't seen them yet and I don't until Thursday so I'm nervous about how they will look.

I am wondering what your PS but on you insicions. I have steri strips and my doc said let them come off on their own just clip the hanging parts off and if I still have it on in a month just take it off. How long did your doc tell u to wear a post op bra?

It was day 10 or 11 when I got nerve issues. Feels like a burn
May 9, 2016
I'm not wearing a post op bra just my bandages for a week I can see he put steristrips on my incisions not sure what the next step will be after this week, I for one can't wait to get the bandages off. Are you taking anything to help with the nerve issues.

Tylenol helps slightly. I go back to work today in 3 hours. I had the BR on April 22. I almost wish I would have waited one more week, but oh well.

Oh that's quick, good luck at work, don't over do it. And if you need more time talk to your doctor. Hope all goes great for you.

Did OHIP cover your surgery? I'm waiting for the answer from them. It's been about 6 weeks since I went to the doc.
May 13, 2016
Yes Ohip did cover the cost. It took 41/2 weeks from my consult to get a surgery date, the Ohip approved a week later, my ps office asked for it to be processed faster as they had the OR booked. My ps was new to Ontario and was waiting on hospital privileges to start operating on Ohip cases as they have to be performed in hospital.

It could have gotten a rush put on my decision and had surgery within a month but our daughter-in-law was due at that time and I didn't want to miss holding the baby when he was born.

Congrats on the grandson. You should hear soon did your ps give you a time frame after your approval to surgery date. Now that I've had it done I wonder why more people don't do it, I instantly felt better, I'm no longer tense and stiff in the shoulders, I'm still early in my recovery but so far it's been worth it, I should of done it sooner lol.

Thanks! He's a cutie (no bias at all) and is a good baby. PS indicated that I could get in fairly quickly after they hear back from OHIP (within 3 or 4 weeks). Good to hear you get quick relief from tension and stiffness - I am looking forward to that!

Couldn't wait took a sneak peak!

Elabla
So my bandages are a mess from me scratching under the padding, my swelling has gone down some so it's also a lot looser on my chest. I gave my padding nipples a few days ago and they are in no way symetrical anymore lol. So I decided to take a sneak. I just could wait till Thursday. I've never been good with surprises even as a kid. Well I'm glad I looked so far I'm happy with them. In the picture one looKs bigger than the other but I didn't notice when I was looking at them. Could very well be swelling or even the angle I took the pic. Either way I'm happy right now.
